Jasper prototype design ~
He’s the second child (by a few minutes) of Steven and Wallace (having an older twin sister, Maia, and an 8 years younger brother, Alphonse).
He’s generally known as a nuisance around his home of Sootopolis and enjoys causing trouble by sticking his nose in other people’s business and general teasing (though he knows not to take things too far, even if his antics mean a lot of people aren’t particularly fond of him.) He likes to consider himself a lovable rogue. He’s very interested in the traditions and origin of Wallace’s family, the Lu Clan, which led to him learning traditional flute music and some martial arts from a young age (though he rarely uses the latter beyond challenging people to fights for fun and a few childhood tournaments.)
Jasper loves ghost and dark types, and spooky/horror things in general, so when he was old enough Phoebe brought him to Mt. Pyre to catch a ghost type to be his starter. He ended up catching a Duskull, and now he and Dusknoir are inseparable partners (in crime). He’s not particularly interested in being a trainer, however, and while he’s challenged a few gyms and entered a few contests for fun, his main goal is just to see the world, explore new places, and maybe find true love along the way (while he’s a flirt, he’s also quite the romantic and he’s particular that his flirting never amounts to anything.)
He’s close with his siblings and parents and always keeps in touch, even when traveling far away. He’ll send cool rocks he finds to Maia and Steven, cheer on Alphonse by watching his contests on livestream, etc. He’s a role model to his younger cousin, Evan (Lisia/May) as well. In general, a guy you either love or hate but can’t deny has charisma and some skills.
