Notes:

  • Églantine (NOT Egg or Eggie don’t listen to her siblings and Tanith) has been fascinated by the ancient world ever since she could first remembering visiting the old shrine in Celestic with Cynthia. It’s her dream to visit ruins around the world and unlock the secrets of the ancient past. And battle strong trainers. If you’re visiting any interesting ruins on your journey, beware since Églantine might just show up and challenge you to an immediate battle if she thinks you’d make a good opponent.
  • Églantine is one of Tanith’s main rivals for the Pokémon League (as Tanith also does Contests so has some separate Coordinator Rivals). She often makes dramatic entrances to challenge her rival to a battle and is always super smug when she wins (and will get sulky when she doesn’t). As the daughters of two of Sinnoh’s strongest ever Champions, the rivalry was inevitable from Eggie’s perspective (though Tanith can sometimes get weary of Églantine’s intensity).
  • As a design note, Églantine and her siblings are supposed to represent the Creation Trio, with Eggie herself representing Dialga (thus her interest in the past). Her outfit color scheme, shape of her side-hair, and her Adamant Orb style hair clip are all meant to be design nods to Dialga.
  • Églantine’s habit of challenging people of out the blue is a nod to Cynthia’s surprise Undella battle in BW2.
  • Églantine’s Lucario is both her starter/strongest battler and her service pokémon as she’s legally blind (can distinguish light/dark and some larger vague shapes but not much else). While Eggie isn’t aura-sensitive herself, her Lucario can share some of her aura sense with her for help navigating the more unpredictable layouts of ruins or the wilderness. She and her Lucario have been together for almost a decade and are in-sync enough to have achieved Mega Evolution together.
