Notes:

  • The younger daughter of Falkner and Janine, she was just a baby when her mother passed away, and not much older when her father moved her and her sister to Johto with him, so she doesn’t have as much of a direct connection with the Koga family as Kes does. Grandpa Koga keeps trying to teach her ninja traditions but Mavis is only interested in the ones she can incorporate into contest appeals.
  • Mavis is very outgoing and unapologetic, a lover of bright colors and flashy moves, but also with an endless curiosity of figuring out how the world works. The ninja skills she does choose to learn she can pick apart in minutes and Koga laments the so-called “wasted genius” of a granddaughter who would have impeccable technique if she actually applied herself. But even grumpy grandpas can’t deny how happy being a coordinator makes her. Not to mention Kestrel is stepping up just fine to the role of ninja heir with her enthusiastic love of poisons.
  • Mavis is obsessed with snakes and snake pokémon, along with the supernatural world thanks to growing up on Morty’s wacky family stories. She dreams of one day being swept off her feet by a handsome snake yokai.
  • Mavis travels with Tracey & Daisy’s daughter Camellia who is truly an icon for putting up with all of her friend’s eccentricities. She’s also rivals with Rosemary (and their Dunsparce have their own additional rivalry.)
  • Mavis’s younger sister Branwen looks up to her immensely, going so far as to base her fashion sense off of her sister’s and choosing to become a coordinator like her. Mavis loves this and will go out of her way to meet up with Bran so they can go shopping and exchange tips.
  • She does eventually meet a nice snake yokai named Kiyomaru who does indeed sweep her off of her feet. Unfortunately he’s a yokai from another world so when they elope it’s to another dimension to Falkner’s chagrin. He thinks he should be used to this nonsense after getting involved with Morty but the world seems to enjoy finding new ways to surprise him.
