Notes:
- Akitsu is a hotheaded young trainer who dreams of being the strongest. Whether that means becoming a Champion or simply defeating multiple leagues and battle frontiers is something he’s not sure of yet, though. While he’s not a type specialist like his parents, he prefers to catch “fierce” pokémon that are fast and have high attack.
- His starter was a gift from Bugsy. Akitsu was accompanying his father on one of his field research trips when he spotted the differently-colored Yanma among a swarm of the Bug-types. After excitedly telling Bugsy, his father caught the shiny Yanma and gifted it to Akitsu, praising him on his sharp eye. Akitsu is very proud of his shiny starter and Yanmega is his ace team member, very brutal and efficient in battle.
- Akitsu travels alone (at least to start out) and is rivals with most of the other trainers in Kanto & Johto in his age group, including Celeste (his primary rival), Nero and Lacey. His standoffish personality and short temper mean that those rivalries aren’t exactly friendly, but he doesn’t care since he believes it just drives him to become that much stronger.
- Akitsu’s nickname is a homophone for 秋津, an old-fashioned term for dragonfly.
