I couldn’t hold back the PLA brainrot any longer so introducing my Ingo/Melli twins Mirabelle “Belle” and Cassiopeia “Cassie”! (Made in this Picrew!) They’re not actually born until after the “cutoff” point of my AU (3036) since I wanted each of my Submas kids to be 10 years apart (so Janus is 20 and Zephyr is 10 when they’re born). More convoluted lore onto how they exist under the cut.
The first thing to know regarding them is that there are multiple people traveling to multiple Hisuis in this AU. The rough timeline is such:
- ~3032: Ingo goes missing/becomes a Faller, ends up in Hisui A
- ~3036: Janus, while searching for Ingo, investigates a spacetime distortion in Sinnoh and becomes a Faller, ends up in Hisui B
- ~3037: Ingo returns home from Hisui A
- ~3040: Janus returns home from Hisui B
The Ingo that Janus (and Tanith) meet in Hisui B is NOT Janus’s uncle/father figure, but due to mutual amnesia it takes a while for either of them to figure that out. Meanwhile, in Hisui A, Ingo meets Akari or Rei, the plot follows more closely to game canon, and he and Melli start a relationship there that grows close enough Melli wants to come with him back to modern Sinnoh. So! About a year after Janus disappears, Ingo comes home with Melli in tow and the twins are born not too long after as Melli had multiple motivations for wanting to stick with Ingo and not wanting to raise kids on his own was one of them whoops. Which means when Janus himself makes it home he finds out Ingo has already returned on his own and is also together with the guy that Janus might have been fwb with back in Hisui and also he has some new toddler cousins! Awkward for sure but happiness at the reunion outweighs all of that.
Also since it’s me the lore behind their names is they relate to both trains and beauty! Belle’s full name means “wondrous beauty” and is also after the many trains in the UK that include Belle in their name (Brighton Belle, Devon Belle, etc). Cassiopeia is the name of a luxury charter overnight train in Hokkaido (aka where Sinnoh is based on) and is also the name of a mythological Greek queen whose vanity brought her downfall. As a bonus, mirabelles are a type of plum from France, so that matches the plant theme common in pokémon names as well as where my Unova is based on, and Cassiopeia is a constellation, matching the space theme seen in certain Sinnoh characters (and the Greco-Roman names of her aunt and cousins’ names)!
