How they first met: They first met at a League event when Marlon was still a new Gym Leader, sometime in between BW and BW2. Marlon was initially very intimidated by her, seeing her as an aloof and powerful rich-girl trainer. However, once they got to talking, he found himself intrigued by her more emotional side that was passionate about battling.
Where their first date was: Marlon invited Caitlin to come ‘hang out’ with him in Humilau and see the sights when he found out she only tends to visit the same fancy places when travelling. They got drinks (coffee for Marlon, chai latte for Caitlin) at a small café then went for a nice walk along the beach.
When they had their first kiss: Once they got going, their romance was fairly whirlwind, so the first kiss was actually on the first date. They got caught up in the moment while on the beach, the sun setting over the waves, sand between their toes. Caitlin leaned in while Marlon was in the middle of rambling about surfing techniques then giggled at his surprised and flushed expression.
Who cooks: They actually have a private chef (or Darach) or dine out most of the time, but Marlon likes to experiment in the kitchen from time to time, especially to try and make some of the old Orange Islander dishes he ate as a kid.
Who proposed: Caitlin. It was actually a somewhat complicated and formal process that had Marlon so confused. Isn’t a ring and a promise enough? Well, he’d do anything for her, so complicated rich people courtship rituals are nothing in the face of their love!
The dominant one: Usually Marlon, but Caitlin definitely has her moments. She’s actually a fairly passionate and forceful person, but because her strong psychic powers were influenced by her emotions as a child, she took on a much more subdued personality. Now that she’s older and has better control over her powers, she lets her ‘true self’ come out more, which Marlon always loves.  Their favorite pastime together: They love to go to the beach, since that was where they went on their first date.
Who kissed who first: Caitlin kissed Marlon.
Who is the flirt: Marlon tends to be pretty casually flirtatious, while Caitlin typically prefers more romantic comments.
Who is the romantic: Caitlin is quite the romantic and loves planning out cute couples’ activities to do with her husband – things like fancy dates, candlelit dinners and so forth.
Who wakes up first: Caitlin is a very heavy sleeper and will sleep to noon at least if she can. Marlon on the other hand, tends to be an early riser who likes to exercise right after waking up. He can get his wife out of bed with enough pestering however, and recently she’s even started doing stretches and yoga with him if she manages to get out of bed early enough (though she’ll often fall asleep mid stretch.)
Who comforts who the most: Caitlin keeps a lot of her emotions bottled up and can sometimes suffer in silence, not wanting to burden others with her troubles. Over the years, Marlon has come to understand his wife’s hidden moods very well, so he’s usually able to help her out and support her when he notices she’s struggling. Marlon himself is very open, so when he needs comforting, he tends to tell Caitlin right away (and can be a bit of a brat for affection at that.)
The cuddler: Marlon loves physical affection, but Caitlin is cuddly in her sleep, holding on to him like he’s a body pillow.
The big spoon: Marlon, but only if Caitlin isn’t in sleep-cuddle mode.

I’m indecisive as heck so after introspection I realized that it would make more sense in-universe for Jasmine and Cress to have named their triplets Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme, despite me already having a fankid called Sage. The triplets are older than Blue and Leaf’s son… but also I’m not changing his name, so now there are two Sage’s. Johto Sage copies his half-brother Yuusuke and goes by his Japanese name Souji, however, so there’s no confusion. Will update tags and pages shortly.

Made a new kid. For now all I’m going to say is that he’s Chili’s son from a prior relationship he had before dating Korrina. His name is Ginger and he’s 7 years older than his little half-sister Anise. He probably gets involved with criminal activity like his cousin Cicely does, though not as deeply. He sells stolen and counterfeit goods and is a bit of a general thief to boot. He has Chili’s coloring – white hair and red eyes – but his tall build is from his other parent.

Basile’s Daughter

[This content is out of date and no longer canon (Basile most likely does not have a kid anymore. Marigold has been repurposed as Milo’s daughter.]

So. @sydchan and I had a bit of a pact that when she revealed that Marcel has a child while as a teen, I would reveal my own teen-pregnancy subplot I’ve had brewing for a while. I was debating making this canon or not, as I wasn’t sure if it fit the tone of the blog, but eventually I decided that, since teen pregnancy does of course happen in real life and is not uncommon and since this subplot ended up becoming important to the character in question, it’s now official.

In case it wasn’t obvious from the title, Basile is the one becoming a teenage father. Growing up on the streets from a young age, he didn’t exactly get the best education (or much of one at all) so when he grew into his teen years and decided to start experimenting a bit, protection wasn’t as forefront in his mind as it should have been. As such, he ends up unexpectedly pregnant and has no idea what to do about it. He doesn’t notice until a few months in, not knowing the signs and assuming he was just sick. When he does confirm that he’s pregnant, he has no idea what to do. After weighing his options, he realizes that the best he can do is try and stay healthy and hope that things work themselves out.

When he’s maybe 5 months along is when he first meets Cilan, just by chance as Basile was scavenging for useful trash behind the Lumiose Gym and Cilan was disposing of some broken inventions of Clemont’s. Obviously concerned for this pregnant teen who looks to be homeless, Cilan offers to help Baz, maybe get him a warm meal or something, and not one to turn down a chance at free food, Baz agrees. They end up going the restaurant Cilan worked at before he joined the Lumiose Gym crew and Basile explains his situation over a panini and hot chocolate. Cilan is, of course, sympathetic to Baz’s situation, in no small part since he and his brothers once had to fend for themselves on the streets as well way back when they were children. Basile definitely plays up his sad orphan story though, since he’s hoping that this well-off seeming guy will be able to help him out since he has no other options he can think of.

In the end, Basile is taken in by Cilan and Clemont. Clemont is initially surprised at the sudden new teenage member of the household, but once he understands the situation he’s very welcoming of Baz. Verbena and Cori, both fairly young children at this point, are more intrigued at the newcomer (Cori asks his fathers if this means they’re getting two new siblings.) While Baz settles in, Cilan sets to work trying to track down the teen’s identity, which doesn’t end up coming to anything since it turns out Baz doesn’t have a birth certificate. Meanwhile, Basile is busy going over options for his future child with Clemont, eventually deciding on an open adoption. After looking over profiles of different potential parents, Baz decides on a couple from Galar (names currently not mentioned since they’ll likely be yet-to-be-revealed-canon characters.) Over the next few months, Baz stays in touch with the couple and once the due date finally arrives, they fly down to Kalos to be there for their daughter’s birth.

Basile’s daughter, Marigold, is born on October 5, 3632. He named her after the flower for her birth month. After a couple days in the hospital, Marigold ends up going home with her adoptive parents, and while he’s sad to part with her, Baz knows that her parents will send him regular updates and that he’ll hopefully be able to see her again in the future. And now he can focus on finally being part of a family after so long on his own. Cilan and Clemont formally adopt him and he’s able to start school and catch up on his education, go on a journey, and even meet his long lost half brother. When Marigold is around 5 years old, her parents bring her on vacation to Kalos so she can properly meet her birth father and after that Baz tries to visit her (or arrange for her to visit him) regularly about twice a year. Marigold is aware that Basile is her birth father, but she sees him as more of a cool uncle, which Baz is fine with, since he’s just happy she’s happy, knowing she’s getting a better life than he could have given her. Marigold will likely show up more in the future, since she’s technically my first (or the first?) Gen 8 fankid.

What was the cause of Norman and Caroline to divorced?

Anon, you got me. This was actually a plot point that I scrapped but forgot to change on the Families page. Back when L&L was less of a game-anime fusion I thought it would be interesting to have some different family dynamics, but now that May’s family is more based on her anime counterpart’s, I decided that having her parents split up didn’t make any sense, considering they have such a good relationship there. I will go change it now, so thanks for the reminder even if this probably isn’t quite the answer you were expecting.

Hymnia Montfort’s full character profile is now available to read from this link! Hopefully this is worth the wait, sorry I haven’t been posting much these past few days. I’ve been very fond of this girl and her family lately (in no small part thanks … Continue reading

🌟Layla ?

10 Facts About Layla Birch-Fang

  1. She has a very strong sense of responsibility. As the eldest of her siblings, she sees herself as the protector of her younger brothers and sister and tends to want to keep an eye on them, whether they want it or not. She also feels responsible for preventing any bad thing she sees happen due to her precognition abilities, even though she can’t always change things. Part of her character arc is learning to both let her siblings have some breathing room and to understand that just because she knows something is going to happen, it doesn’t mean it’s her fault if she just can’t do anything to prevent it. She’s not omnipotent.
  2. She’s very neat and well organized and grows anxious when things are disordered in her space. She has a habit of cleaning or organizing when she’s stressed out, be it her own home or other people’s.
  3. She has a very professional dress sense, fitting right into the Interpol dress code before she even was recruited. She typically wears blazers and skirts and always carefully coordinates her outfits (out of the various dark colors allowed by the Interpol dress code.)
  4. After years of practice, she was able to hone her precognition abilities to the point she can choose what kind of vision she’s going to have. This is most useful for her work in the Ultra Beast department of Interpol as she’s able to accurately predict when and where wormholes will open up, allowing her team to be able to minimize damage caused by rampaging and lost UBs.
  5. She works mainly with the Faller version of her mother, who she refers to as her Aunt off-duty. Faller Anabel has come to see Layla as a sort of surrogate daughter herself over time as well. Layla also ends up working a lot with Ohia, who himself is a Faller and a sort of on-call employee for Interpol, assisting their studies of UBs and the nature of wormholes in Alola along with Weiss, who has psychic powers that allow him to manipulate Ultra Wormholes. She strongly dislikes working with the two younger men however, due to their laid back attitude towards the work, since if there’s one thing Layla hates, it’s not taking serious matters like UBs with the gravitas they deserve.
  6. She first met her boyfriend, Caleb, through their mutual friend Opal. At first she hated his flirtatious and habit of joking around, but over time as she got to know the ‘true’ Caleb under the front he puts up she came to like him, eventually falling for the crafty and well-read, but still fun and cheerful man. He often jokes that he’s the only one who can get Layla to laugh (which is not true, but she does find herself more at ease around him, able to relax and not worry as much about her responsibilities.)
  7. She’s also childhood friends with Rudy and Safir, Roxanne and Brawly’s twins. However, she’s not as close with them when she’s older due to an incident when they were children. The three were exploring near Granite Cave when Layla had a vision of them being attacked by scary looking wild pokémon. She immediately ran back down the beach to where Brendan (who was babysitting them) was, but while she was fetching him to help, her friends accidentally disturbed an injured wild Salamence that was hidden in the foliage. Brendan was able to subdue the dragon with the help of his pokémon, but Rudy still ended up getting a fairly serious injury that left a prominent scar. Since that event, Layla has blamed herself for Rudy’s injury and been somewhat distant from her old friends, especially since while Rudy holds no grudge towards her, knowing she was only trying to help, Safir feels a bit bitter that Layla left them to tell an adult rather than just warning them that there was danger so they could have avoided the entire situation.
  8. She used to love watching her father (Wally)’s gym battles as a child, wanting to be like him when she grew up. Originally, she would be brought to watch by Anabel or Brendan, but later on she goes by herself, visiting after school and taking notes on her father’s techniques. As a result, her battle style is strongly influenced by his. Despite working for Interpol currently, she still dreams of one day inheriting the Petalburg Gym from Wally.
  9. Prior to joining Interpol, she didn’t know that she would be working with a Faller version of her mother, but Faller Anabel ended up being assigned as Layla’s mentor (definitely done on purpose by the upper management.) Layla ends up introducing her ‘aunt’ to her mother which ends up being a very weird meeting for everyone involved.
  10. Layla drinks a lot of tea, of all kinds. She drinks herbal tea to relax, green tea to help her focus, and black tea when she needs an energy boost. Her parents gifted her a fancy box to keep her collection in which is now proudly displayed on her desk at work. She’s very protective of her tea as well, not wanting to share it with anyone and going on a crusade to find the culprit if she finds any missing.
