Fankidtober Day 21: Layla Birch-Fáng

Another purple kid today, but opposite vibes! Layla is Wally/Anabel’s daughter, but is raised by Wally/Brendan after Anabel goes missing under mysterious circumstances. This vanishing prompts an interest in cold cases and unsolved mysteries in her, leading Layla to join Interpol as an adult, where she meets an alternate (?) version of her mother. They have an unconventional family relationship, but they do consider each other family! Layla mainly does office work, being the woman-in-the-chair to her partner Noelle (from earlier this month) and pretends to be completely fed up and not at all flustered by all the flirting Noelle does through their earpieces.

Fankidtober Day 20: Osmund “Ozzie” Gärtner

Gladion & Elio’s youngest, he’s biologically Gladion/Elio/Dulse because by the time he’s born Dulse is their sort of third but not really [insert complicated URS-cultural relationship dynamics here]. Unlike his preppy sister and cutesy-goth brother, Ozzie is a total party guy who likes to hang out on the beach and get into trouble. While he seems like he lacks a serious bone in his body, he’s also the only sibling who’s super into pokémon battles and is making a career out of being a trainer. Elesa is a huge icon of his, especially her neon-filled gym. He dreams of joining the Alola E4 one day or becoming a gym leader in another region, if he finds a gym with the right vibe.

Fankidtober Day 19: Jacinto “Jesse” & Adonis “Donnie” Higuera Suffield

Juliana & Penny’s twin boys, these two are a tag-team of RPG/LARP nerds who talk like they’re in a video game almost 24/7. Jesse (left) is the schemer who has the pokédex memorized and Donnie (right) is the man of action who is the one who battles more. They’re kind of obnoxious but in that charming campy way.

It’s like this: [adjusts glasses] “HARK a foe crosses our path! brother! what manner of beast is this??” “by my reckoning, dear brother, this is the dastardly Clodsire, the lord of the swamp. I recommend using Espeon the Valiant as your partner in this battle!”

(Also both need glasses – Jesse just prefers contacts.)

Fankidtober Day 18: Theodosia Bernadine “Theo” Ellington-Sinclair

Theo is the adoptive (sole) daughter of Victor and Bede, and 6th child out of 8 overall. Her personality can best be summed up as Menace and Threat to the Peace. Nobody is safe from being climbed on or hit in the face with her plastic wand – not her parents, not her brothers, not her cousins, not the general public. The only person she behaves for is Grandma Opal who is her biggest role model and idol. She dreams of taking over the Gym one day and will not let anyone forget it.

Fankidtober Day 17: Rayner “Nero” Campanella-Surge

The second child of Spark & Arlo, Nero is the quintessential moody teenager trying to be edgy a mystery who he gets that from… – he dyes black streaks his hair to look like a Zoroark, spends most of the day in his room gaming (no dad he is NOT winning because you’re BOTHERING him) and likes to eyeroll and sigh a lot. Gets compared by people outside his family to his outgoing older sister who is always off traveling and is a skilled trainer a lot, though he’s happy with his only grass touching being the walks/jogs his pops and Grandpa Surge drag him out to. Has recently gotten into programming and thinks he might like to pursue that as a career if being a professional gamer doesn’t work out. Definitely hangs out on the same forums as Penny.

Fankidtober Day 15: Gwenivar “Gwennie” Harmonia Tasso

Gwennie is the younger child of Bianca and Merula (the original Hero of Ideals who was temporarily fused with Zekrom). Named after her great-grandmother, a medieval Queen of Unova, it’s perhaps no wonder that Gwennie, is obsessed with history and archaeology, especially pertaining to her home region. While her outward impression is more that of one of those overly kind, popular girls that you’re either bffs with or find obnoxious, once you get her going on manuscripts and ruins… look out. When not out in the field somehow always avoiding getting mud on her collection of cute dresses, she can be found staying just as pristine in her section of the family garden (it’s most of the garden, she’s the only green thumb in the family). (She’s frog boy Blake’s little sister, and is friendly academic rivals with Edmond (KalosShipping), meeting him when both got an internship with Prof. Sonia in Galar!)

Fankidtober Day 14: Fiorino “Rino” Fay

Rino is the only child of Sara Lee & Concetta (two minor performer characters from the anime). Like his parents, he has a love for the stage and is a Performer himself, though his choice in idols is a bit… for whatever reasons, he’s a huuuuge fan of both Euphie and Harley, wanting to emulate their unique styles. For all that he’s an oddball, he’s been able to win over some fans on the Showcase circuit, and tends to do well when he really pushes the envelope. He’s in a tight-knit friend/friendly rival group with Lulu (from earlier in the month) and Aria’s daughter Colette!

Fankidtober Day 13: Happy Birthday Renato!

Was considering doing something spooky for Friday the 13th… but ykw I’ve had an exhausting day, all I wanna do is curl up cozy with a hot drink and turn in early… so let’s let Renato have a nice rest by the campfire with his pokémon as well, for a birthday treat!

Fankidtober Day 12: Ryan Kanetsuki

Ryan is Jimmy’s only child, and the two are a close-knit father-son duo! While he calls himself a Pokémon Researcher, Ryan is more of an explorer or collector. Going on trips with his Uncle Ethan as a kid inspired a love of the outdoors, and he loves the ‘treasure hunt’ of trying to track down rare pokémon to learn more about them and befriend them. He’s notoriously hard to contact himself though, always breaking his phone or forgetting to tell people where he’s going. His childhood friends Renato and Tytus always scold him for being reckless… but it’s never stopped him.
