💥🥞🌋🌏✏️☄️ for Ronan?

💥 COLLISON – what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Because Ronan has a complicated relationship with his parents due to perceiving them as being “irresponsible”, he tries to be as different from them as possible. But, this just means that Ronan often rejects his own emotions and impulses that he thinks are troublesome. Whenever he finds himself wanting to try something spontaneous or messy, he suppresses the urge and mentally berates himself for it. However, over time he finds that rejecting his true self is harming his creativity, something he takes pride in, and has to reconcile with being more similar to Flint and Volkner than he’d like, and that it might not be such a bad thing to take risks and be spontaneous like they do.

🥞 PANCAKE – what is their comfort breakfast?

Ronan loves to cook, breakfast being one of his favorite meals to make. Because neither of his parents are morning people, it meant Ronan usually had the kitchen to himself in the mornings. Getting to cook in peace and have the house essentially to himself was a highlight of his morning routine. His favorite to make and eat is a simple, traditional Japanese breakfast! He’s made the various dishes enough that it’s second nature, and he finds going through all the steps to be relaxing in their routine. Once he moves out, he tends to take his time when getting ready in the morning, really savoring the cooking process and each bite, so it’s a very special meal for him!

🌋 VOLCANO – how bad is their temper? is it a slow boil, or an instant explosion?

Ronan is very easily irritated, with seemingly everything able to annoy him depending on the circumstances. However, his actual temper is more of a slow-burn. Ronan is very prickly in his everyday demeanor, but when actually angry he’ll give the cold shoulder. Once he stops his grumbling and needling and is just quietly glaring and seething, that’s when he’s really mad at someone. His anger tends to pass fairly quickly, however, since he finds it tiring to be that upset for long periods of time and it’s easier for him to just avoid people who get that much on his nerves than waste energy being angry at them.

🌏 EARTH – will they give up the world for someone they love? is this decision easy for them?

Ronan finds it incredibly difficult to open up to people and struggles with his own feelings of affection and love to others. He sees himself as a loner and rejects attempts from people who try to grow closer to him beyond casual friendships. However, when he does let someone into his heart, he becomes completely devoted. He’s picky enough with who he allows close to him that anyone that does become that important to him, will be someone he’d do anything for, as they deserve it in his eyes. At his core, though, Ronan is someone who looks out for himself first and foremost, so while he might not give up everything for someone he loves, he would do everything in his power within reason to provide for them as long as it meant he could continue to exist alongside them as well.

✏️ PENCIL – is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?

I don’t usually have quotes or lyrics written down or memorized for specific characters, but as for general inspiration a lot of Ronan’s influence came from the idea of him being inherently contradictory. He’s passionate at heart – but closes himself from those strong emotions, he’s methodical and precise – but secretly also enjoys pouring his heart without care into his poetry, he keeps himself isolated and aloof – but when he does love it’s with his whole being. So I tend to associate him with other characters that fit those tropes as well! (Also a friend told me he looks like BBC Sherlock and I can’t unsee it now and I hate it so there’s that too.)

☄️ COMET – what do people assume about them? are they right?

Generally, what you see with Ronan is what you get. He dresses in dark colors and has a permanent scowl on his face. He’s brooding and irritable and doesn’t like socializing. His consideration of fashion, seen in his more formal, stylish clothing, hints at his more refined side, which is emphasized in his “carefully chosen words that often have hidden meanings” (he will quote poetry when he doesn’t know what else to say). However, Ronan does have hidden depths for those willing to dig for them, but most people don’t want to put up with him long enough to do so or just like his dark and brooding exterior as is and prefer to imagine their own fantasies on how he’d be with someone he’s close to.

39, 42, 43 for Janus? 👀

39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?

Janus almost always has a smile on his face, so people often assume he’s a very upbeat, optimistic person – and this is true! However, Janus also uses his smile to hide his true emotions, so sometimes his outward appearance does not match what he’s feeling inside. There are also times where Janus will change his expression on purpose to mess with people, such as frowning suddenly to trick people into thinking he’s angry with them, then switching back to his normal grin and saying “Just kidding!” Some people also find his expressions irritating, thinking that he’s smug or doesn’t take anything seriously, though in that case they’ve fallen for the persona Janus presents on purpose.

Janus also almost always wears a uniform – either the Subway Boss uniform or the Ginkgo Guild uniform depending on the arc – so people tend to assume he takes great pride in his work, which is correct! Janus considers both the Battle Subway employees and the Ginkgo Guild members to be his family, so by wearing their uniforms, he feels connected to them!

42. Is there anything in your character’s past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?

Before the Hisui Arc, the moment in Janus’s past that most impacts him is when Ingo went missing. Only about a month before Janus was planning to start his journey as a trainer to gain the experience he needed to one day become a Subway Boss himself, his Uncle Ingo went to Lostlorn Forest to train and never came home. Janus put his journey on hold to assist the search and rescue teams, but it was to no avail. Janus was meant to go with Ingo to train that day, but ended up canceling the plans to go to the Nimbasa amusement park with his friend Amelia to ride a new roller coaster instead. Because of this, Janus blames himself for Ingo going missing, feeling that it wouldn’t have happened if he’d been a more responsible trainer and gone with him. He knows deep down that he’s not at fault, but it doesn’t change his feelings. Even after deciding to start his journey after all a few months later, Janus still dedicates most of his energy to trying to solve his uncle’s disappearance, investigating any and all rumors that he thinks might be related.

This search leads him to end up being thrown through space and time via mysterious ruins in Sinnoh, arriving in Hisui and losing most of his memories in the process. After this point, his greatest regret is his lack of memory. He knows that he’s forgotten something important, and frequently worries over the people he knows he left behind, even if he can’t remember them.

43. Does your character have a switch that changes aspects of their personality whether they are around friends, family, etc. Is there someone who gets to see their true self?

Janus hides his feelings behind his cheery expression and mannerisms, though most of the time, his smile is genuine. While he’s truly friendly and outgoing, he doesn’t show his most honest feelings and self to anyone but those he considers close friends and family. Prior to the Hisui Arc, these people were quite numerous, and anyone who spent time with him for long enough would be able to pick up on his various moods without too much difficulty, even though he expresses himself differently than most people.

However, after he ends up in Hisui and loses his memories, Janus becomes much more guarded. This is partially due to his amnesia, but also because people in Hisui tend to be wary of him – seeing him as an outsider and finding him strange and even threatening due to being a Faller. Janus doesn’t want to get hurt or shunned even more, so only opens up around a very select few people and even then, the only person who he shows his most true self to is Volo.

This is the second half of this ask! This post will be about Winona & Kris’s daughter, Amethyst!

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?

Amethyst is named after the gemstone! Kris’s full name is Crystal, after the game she debuted in, while her daughter has purple hair like Winona, so it felt obvious for her to be named after a purple type of crystal.

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

Amethyst has a habit of taking on too much responsibility for herself. She’s bad at recognizing her own limits, and often ends up burnt-out from trying to do too many things at once. She’s not good at accepting help from other people, insisting she can do everything herself, but this can lead to her biting off more than she can chew and ending up in trouble. She’s somewhat aware of this flaw, but thinks she can overcome it on her own – which doesn’t end particularly well for her.

10. Is your character more feminine or masculine?

Amethyst is fairly feminine! She admires Winona’s grace and poise a lot, and tries to emulate her – though unfortunately she has a clumsy streak. Out of practicality, she usually dresses in more sporty fashion, but always tries to look professional. She puts a lot of thought into her outfits and presentation, and prefers styles that are more girly and charming – she has a special fondness for sailor-style clothing.

12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?

Amethyst takes great pride in her so called “eye for opportunity”. She claims that she can sense potential from a mile away, and is always looking for a new project to try and get off the ground. Her most successful venture so far is the delivery business she and her Pelipper run together, but she’s always looking for new avenues to expand her market to. Most of the time, her projects don’t pan out, but Amethyst always bounces back from failure, ready to try again with something new!

Hi, I vaguely remember there was a link with a list of all your verse’s characters names with meanings and references, but when I tried looking for it the link is no longer available, do you happen to make another one?

Sorry this took a little while to answer as it should have been quick – but I found the document and realized it was super out of date, so decided to update it before sharing the link. So, here it is, including all my kids as of this moment!

1, 8, 10, and 12 for the Kris/Winona and/or Wallace/Steven kids?

I’ll do the Wallace/Steven kids first since they’re more developed, but I’ll do the Kris/Winona kids as well in a separate post later!

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?

Maia: This name comes from Greco-Roman mythology and is the name of two different figures. There is Maia of the Pleiades, the mother of the god Hermes, and Maia the Roman goddess of spring and growth. In-universe, Maia was named in honor of both May and Zinnia – the month of May deriving its name from the Roman Maia, and since it’s also the name of a star, in the tradition of the Draconids. (Additionally, the real-life Draconids meteor shower occurs in October, Maia and Jasper’s birth month! Though it happens earlier in the month, not at the end like their birthday is.)

Jasper: Jasper also has two different sources of meaning. It can be a version of the name Gaspar or Casper, which means “treasurer” and is often considered one of the names of the Three Wise Men/Magi from Biblical lore. It is also the name of a semi-precious gemstone, though the origin of the name is different (the stone’s name means simply “speckled stone”). At least one of Steven’s children needed a stone name, and Jasper is the lucky recipient! And fittingly, blue jasper, like his hair color, happens to be the rarest color for the stone. I like to think Steven had the blue ocean variety in mind when choosing a name for his son. For those who believe in the more spiritual and esoteric properties of gemstones, Jasper can represent and encourage comfort, reassurance, optimism, relieving fear, and living in the moment, said to be like having a good friend close to your side. All of these qualities, as well as the stone being associated with the autumn, I think perfectly exemplify Jasper’s qualities (or qualities that would bring him comfort in his harder moments), so it’s a very fitting stone for him to be named after.

Alphonse: This is a French name derived from Germanic origins, and means “noble and ready” or possibly “battle”. Unlike his older siblings, I mainly chose this name based on vibes alone, haha. As Maia was named by both of her fathers and Jasper was named by Steven, I wanted to think of what kind of name Wallace would pick for the third child, and an elegant, classy name like Alphonse just felt right. The meanings of the name do hint at his more combative and stuck-up nature, though.

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

Maia: Her stubbornness. Like the rock-types she specializes in, Maia can be unyielding and set in her ways to the point of obstinance. She’s fully aware of this but also doesn’t particularly care since she usually does whatever she wants anyways. And usually when she’s being particularly stubborn over something trivial, one of her friends or family will be there to smooth things over so she doesn’t have to take responsibility for being petty (since that’s what siblings are for, of course).

Jasper: His denseness when it comes to both his own feelings and others’. He can be remarkably emotionally canny when he wants to be but if that intuition tells him something he doesn’t want to hear he just pretends he doesn’t see it to the point other people are flabbergasted by it. He tries to stay upbeat and ignore his own negative feelings if he doesn’t want to face them, and has a habit of making up his mind about how others feel about them without always looking at the reality of the situation. This can lead to him doing reckless/self-destructive things without realizing the impact it has on the people who care about him, since he often assumes he’s not particularly likable when it comes down to it. He is aware of this flaw and is doing his best to use this awareness to circumvent it with the help of his therapist, but it’s been a long road to get to this point.

Alphonse: His raging inferiority complex. Alphonse can be downright nasty to others to hide his own insecurities, to the point of being a bully to his rivals and even a few cases of sabotaging their progress to further his own. He’s determined to succeed no matter the cost or if he has to tear down others on his way to the top, not realizing that this just ruins the spirit of competition in the first place. He places his family on a pedestal then rages when he can attain the too-lofty heights he’s assigned them to. He puts too much on his plate trying to become a renowned Top Coordinator and win the Pokemon League and look perfect and flawless as he does it and when he can’t reach the impossible goals he’s set for himself it just feeds his complex and makes him angrier and more prone to reckless acts.

10. Is your character more feminine or masculine?

Maia: I would say she’s on the femme end of androgynous. Think short-hair fitted pants-suit businesswoman style in terms of her fashion. She doesn’t really pay much mind to presenting in a particular way though, just wearing and acting in the way she thinks is the most fitting and professional for her purposes.

Jasper: Slightly more masculine, but like Maia he really doesn’t care much and is definitely the one who inherited Wallace’s more flashy and flamboyant fashion sense. He throws together outfits from a wide range of styles, often wears makeup, and generally does his best to achieve some kind of goth pirate martial artist look or whatever it is he’s going for.

Alphonse: Distinguished masculine. Probably the closest to Juan’s fashion sense out of any of his mentors growing up. He dresses to impress and present a certain image, but it’s not necessarily the style he’d use if he was dressing purely for his own preference. That’s something he’d probably have to spend some time figuring out once he gets to a point he’s comfortable enough just being himself and not the unrealistic perfect person he’s trying to be.

12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?

Maia: Her ability to think quickly and strategize! Maia often is overwhelmed by the complexities and seeming lack of logic involved in most interactions and occurrences in daily life, finding comfort in numbers, patterns, and solid constants, just like her beloved rock-types. She sees the world through a lens of endless probabilities and thrives in situations like battles where she can put her talent for numbers and pattern recognition to work via strategy. This way of thinking makes some parts of her life difficult, but she doesn’t care and would never be able to give up the way she sees the world.

Jasper: He’s talented in many ways (many that he doesn’t even realize), and he can certainly name a number of skills and traits he considers fundamental to his being, but the one he has the most complicated relationship with is his affinity for ghost-types and spirits in general. He feels that this talent of his is rooted in hardship and the stigma people with ghost affinities often face is challenging for him to deal with, but at the same time, he also considers it an intrinsic part of who he is, something he can’t give up even if he wanted to. Embracing the world of ghosts and spirits is part of Jasper’s personal journey and under Shouju’s tutelage he’s able to discover a side to it he hadn’t considered before.

Alphonse: His family! While they’re also his greatest burden in his quest to live up to them, Alphonse takes great pride in his heritage, both being the son of two champions, who also have robust and outstanding accomplishments outside of their champion title, and being part of an ancient clan with many traditions and rich history. At the end of the day, he simply wants to make his family proud and live up to their legacies even if he’s not necessarily going about it in the best way. Finding his own place among them rather than trying to surpass them is really the crux of his journey.

6, 12, 18, 24 for Florian?

(As Florian plays the role of SV protagonist in my verse, I’ve been playing the game as him, and have some burgeoning ideas of further ship ideas involving that game. However, since all of that is still heavily WiP and Sophia is his main partner regardless of any future possible poly shenanigans, she’ll be the one in question for the answers referring to his lover here!)

06. Do they have any hobbies that their lover finds unusual, odd, or otherwise annoying?

While his height is more often than not a hindrance, Florian still can be a bit smug about towering over most other people when he has the chance. Sophia despises this since she’s already the shortest member of her family, and sometimes Florian just makes her feel even shorter than she is when he effortlessly reaches tall places she’d need a stool to barely get to, casually (jokingly) rests his elbow on her head, or any other number of little quirks that get on her nerves.

And I’m now realizing this says “hobbies” and not “habits”, so to actually answer the question, Sophia is not necessarily the hugest fan of how much Florian loves the outdoors. She certainly doesn’t mind getting a bit of sun and maybe having a nice, relaxing picnic now and again, but things like camping and running around helter-skelter with your pokémon, tracking mud and who knows what else everywhere, are simply not for her and she doesn’t really see what Florian gets out of it, especially when he’s so conscious of his image and fashion otherwise. She certainly doesn’t fault him for his interests being different from her own, but this is one pastime she’ll never fully understand for him or anyone else. He can camp all he wants, she’ll be staying in the cozy hotel.

12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?

Florian places great pride in his strong connection to the past and keeping those traditions alive. While his memories of his first life can be a burden to him, he also would not trade them for anything. To him, his life has been a continuous unspooling thread and he simply cannot imagine what he would be like had he simply ceased to be when his first life came to a close. He and his brother are now, as far as they know, the only people from the ancient Kalos of three millennia ago still walking the earth, and Florian takes that very seriously. He wants to ensure that everything he can recall about his homeland, language, culture, and the people he knew is able to be recorded for posterity, as most of it had originally been long lost to history and myth. He’s been in touch with other reincarnations, and as far as any of them know, he was from the earliest time period among the whole current group of them. He is often fiercely homesick for his past, but has found that sharing those stories with his new friends and family and bringing them into his world can ease that ache, so he’s made it one of his life’s missions to aid in researchers, linguists, and historians as best he can to make the most of his second chance.

18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode?

Ideally, Florian would love to live in a small cottage in a secluded, quiet village, surrounded by nature and far from the overwhelming hustle and bustle of cities and modern life, but in practice that home will be at most a vacation house for him. Having grown up in a big city and knowing full-well that marrying a princess means a life of lavish palaces and formal events simply means Florian cherishes the time he has to get away all the more. He knows that you can’t always get exactly what you want in life, so strives to find compromises wherever he can (something he learned through his own hardship as a prince and later king in his earlier life). He is doing his best to convert Sophia to the joys of country living (real country living not “The Summer Palace” country living) and he’s pretty sure he’s winning her over yet!

24. In their own words, how would your character describe what their lover is like?

“In Sophia, I find a resourceful, kind woman with strength in her convictions and the ability to use her position to uplift the voices of others. I have met few others as caring and driven as her, who put so much tireless effort into their work and ask for nothing in return but the continued success and happiness of the people she represents and strives to aid. However, the woman I fell in love with is the Sophia not seen in public appearances or written about in magazines, but the woman who almost burned the kitchen down trying to make me eggs, who threatens to lop me off at the kneecaps every time I need to fetch something from a height for her, who wrinkles her nose and swears quite colorfully under her breath when things don’t go her way, and enjoys daytime soap operas and has cried while watching that holiday romance movie that came out last… and oh dear she’s giving me a look, I suppose I can’t divulge all her secrets now can I? Needless to say, she’s wonderful and I adore her and she has not a single flaw, of course.”

Morgan, 16-20!

16. Is your character the athletic type or more of a couch potato? What are some sports/games that they like?

Morgan isn’t particularly athletic or particularly a couch potato. He’s the type of person who complains when he has to do any excessive physical activity, but he also does his best to walk or bike to commute, take the stairs rather than the elevator, etc. He does his best to get exercise without going out of his way to specifically work out. In terms of sports/games he enjoys, Morgan has a particular fondness for winter sports! He learned how to skate and snowboard as a child, and while he never did anything remotely competitive with either sport, he enjoys them as a hobby when the weather is right! He also follows professional figure skating and snowboarding competitions and has a few favorite athletes he roots for.

17. Does your character have dreams of getting married and/or having children?

Married? Probably. Children? Big Maybe. I haven’t thought much about Morgan’s future beyond when he’s in his early twenties or so, but at that point in his life he’s been dating Raphael for a while and is very happy with his current life. He’d like to marry his partner eventually, probably sooner rather than later, but children are just not really on either of their minds at the moment. Both are focusing on their careers and relationship, but it’s a possibility they’ll likely bring up once they’re married. I wouldn’t say it’s something he’s dreamed about prior to getting into a serious relationship, however. Maybe if Emery or (Arceus-forbid) Jay have kids of their own, it’ll inspire an interest in Morgan too, but for now he’s not really thinking about it too much.

18. What kind of home would they want to live in? Where would they place this abode?

I can see Morgan and Rapha wanting to live somewhere that’s both accessible for all the traveling they do for their jobs and is in an active, high-energy place like a big city, but also can be quiet enough for them to enjoy some of that solitude they both crave as well. So, probably, in a quieter neighborhood of somewhere like Hearthome? The type of area where a lot of young professionals like them live, where there’s a good social scene but it’s not all wild noisy parties. A cozy apartment with their signature eclectic decorating sense with sleek classic styles (Morgan’s influence) and extravagant old-fashioned styles (Raphael’s influence).

19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?

Morgan generally does not start fights if he can help it. He definitely has gotten into them, especially as he grows older and his more caustic, scathing side emerges, but he usually is somewhat hilariously affronted when him insulting someone leads to a verbal fight. He just was honest it’s not his fault they reacted badly. When he was younger though, his anxious and shy personality made him the target of bullying and teasing from some of his peers, though he never fought back then, preferring to keep his head down (despite Emery often trying to pick fights with his bullies, encouraging him to do the same, which he was generally mortified by). With intervention from teachers, as well as being able to find his own little niche in a group of friends, thankfully Morgan’s issues with bullies didn’t last long.

20. Does your character like animals? What are some of their favorite animals? Would they want pets? What about mythological creatures?

Morgan loves pokémon! His favorites are, of course, his beloved team members, though generally he gets along with all pokémon and tends to claim (half-jokingly) he prefers them to people. In terms of general preference, Morgan has a particular fondness for the more spooky and macabre pokémon, or those misunderstood and shunned by people, finding kinship in them. Growing up, he was always entranced by the icy and deadly beauty of Paul’s Froslass, which is why Paul was able to pull some strings with Reggie to give Morgan a female Snorunt to be his starter, so he could raise his own Froslass. During his journey, he also ends up picking up the Odd Keystone and managing to unlock it into Spiritomb, who he doesn’t realize is a Cursed Prison Object and just assumes is a rare ghost-type, so to anyone in the know’s abject horror, begins sending out Spiritomb for his contest performances, which somehow ends up not ending horribly. Spiritomb enjoys showing off its might and magnificence for the assembled masses. (Also amusingly, in this AU, Spiritomb is a single-instance pokémon akin to legendaries, but due to interdimensional shenanigans, prior to Morgan unsealing his world’s Spiritomb, the pokémon was only known as one of Champion Cynthia’s team. Her shiny Spiritomb Japhy, of course, being an inheritance from her Hisuian father. Another one appearing in a contest in the hands of a rookie coordinator, of all things, made quite the news!)

Unless you talked about this before, how did Raihan, Leon and Piers all end up together?

I don’t think I have talked about this before, so I can outline the details now!

By the time the game plot kicks off, there’s definitely been a tension of sorts between the three for a while. Leon is extremely busy as Champion, so starting a relationship is something he simply doesn’t have time for, not to mention Rose wouldn’t approve since it’d kick off a whole new series of publicity issues to manage. So Leon does sometimes consider relationships, but only really in the abstract. It’s something has no experience with. Raihan is aware of this and is angry about it, but also keeps his own feelings for Leon private since he doesn’t want to make things even more difficult for his friend and rival. Piers, however, is aware of all of Raihan’s woes because the two are friends-with-benefits and Raihan likes to complain to him, haha. Piers is starting to get a bit fed up with the situation as well, though. He understands the situation, but he’d rather Raihan stop being indecisive about their own relationship (keep it casual, try for something more, or just break things off) so Piers can get on with his life knowing exactly where they stand.

After Leon loses the Championship to Victor and Rose is detained, however, suddenly the factors keeping things in that sort of stasis are suddenly removed, and Leon is now free to pursue any romantic pursuits he desires without Rose breathing down his neck about it or having to rush off to some event (or at least less events now). Piers assumes this means that Raihan will break things off with him to woo Leon, but the pregnancy with the twins complicates matters and when he brings up the idea of breaking up to Raihan he’s actually very upset with the idea. The two agree to stay close at least for the sake of the babies, and in the meantime Raihan starts being more overt with his flirting towards Leon, who does actually pick up on it (since the feelings were mutual and he was looking for it). Leon is hesitant since he was aware of Raihan’s relationship with Piers, but when both of them express that they didn’t mind him being their third, Leon decides to try the whole relationship thing out, finally.

Things progress pretty slowly from there, just due to Leon’s own inexperience with dating, but the three grow very close over time, especially once Chelsea and Merrill are born (Leon adores them and is a natural as a dad). As Leon and Raihan grow closer, Piers assumes they’ll want it to be just the two of them growing forward and begins to distance himself, but both of them make it clear that he’s wanted as well – Raihan not wanting to lose what they’d had for so long and Leon having bonded a lot with him and still wanting to grow closer. At some point, they all move in together in Hammerlocke (maybe around when Nasrin is born?) and I think they marry sometime before Charlie is born. They have a second smaller home in Wyndon for when Leon needs to spend more time at work as well (and it’s closer to the recording studio Piers prefers). And that’s the story! By the fankid era they’re all very happy with each other and are doing well.

Can you tell us more about Elio, Selene, and their children and relationship with their partners?

This ask has been sitting here a while and their families have gone through some pretty big changes since then, but I think I’m now in a comfortable place with the Alola protags to answer this!

Selene & Elio spent most of their childhoods living a very unstable and transitory lifestyle with their single father, Orion. He lost most of his memories when the twins were toddlers, but due to a distrust of authority he never sought help for this, simply doing his best to raise his children on his own and provide for them. When Elio & Selene were around 7 or 8, they moved to Vermillion, Kanto where Orion befriended a woman named Clarissa, who often babysat the twins while Orion worked his various odd-jobs, and even eventually offered them a place to live with her. Only a few years after getting settled, however, Orion up and left with very minimal warning to his roommate and children, leaving Clarissa to take custody of Selene & Elio as they had no other relatives. With this backdrop, when one of Clarissa’s cousins announced they were selling their house in Alola, she took the opportunity to move there for the sake of a fresh start for the children. When they set out on their island trials, Selene & Elio are still coming to terms with the disappearance of their father as well as moving regions, a plotline I thought would work well in tandem with Gladion & Lillie’s stories! (Also they find out that Actually they and their father are Fallers and that’s the true cause of his amnesia, they were just too little to have noticed any lost memories. How things resolve on that end is still WiP!)

Selene and Elio trade off the Champion seat every year or so for a while, but by the next-gen era the title has gone to Acerola! She and Selene are married, and Selene now works full time as a photographer, both artistically and for documenting the variety of pokemon and other creatures that inhabit Alola (her specialty is spirit photography!) Elio is married to current Aether President Gladion, and is an Pokémon Ranger who works closely with the organization, helping to protect habitats and bringing in injured wild pokémon for care. More details on their families under the cut!

Selene has always had a fascination with the macabre and ghost stories, lending her otherwise cheerful and somewhat airheaded demeanor a sinister tinge (aka she will happily discuss the ghost standing right next to you with her usual smile). When she first got her Rotom Dex and discovered it had a camera, she became obsessed with documenting her Trial through photographs, and Acerola’s trial ignited a love of photographing ghosts and ghost-types. She loves the idea of being able to capture the intangible on film, both for artistic merit and scientific research. After the events of the game, Selene remains in Alola and is the one who works with Interpol to catch UBs, which is how she and Acerola grew closer and eventually form a romantic relationship! After their first child, Lirio, is born is when Selene decides to retire as a trainer to pursue her photography full time and when Acerola became the Champion (where she remains). The two go on to have a second child, Eugenia, a few years later. Lirio is a very serious boy who can sometimes be a bit of a stick in the mud, though he’s also a fiercely competitive trainer. Eugenia on the other hand is a very cheerful and somewhat ditzy girl who is known for losing track of time and wandering off (Lirio worries about her as much as he complains about her).

Elio did his best to keep his spirits up throughout his childhood, but in many ways felt that he had to do so in order for Selene to not grow despondent when times were tough as well. This carried over when they moved to Alola, Elio keeping a happy expression even when venting his frustrations or being a bit mean (or manipulative). This exacerbated his rivalry with Gladion, who resented him for being “fake”. Over the course of the game, however, the two realize they have more in common than it initially appeared, forming a close bond of friendship and rivalry. After the end of the game, the two of them decide to travel together to other regions and challenge more leagues, eventually forming a romantic relationship along the way. This is also when Elio learns about Pokémon Rangers! When they return to Alola, Elio and Selene compete for the Champion seat together for a while, trading it off every so often, but once they both decide Acerola is the better fit, he revisits the idea of being a Ranger, something he prefers to working directly for Aether as he doesn’t like dealing with people, so it’s something he can do on his own terms! He and Gladion have two children – Primrose, who is a timid coordinator, and Enzian, an energetic and adventurous boy fond of playing pranks.

I’m the one who asked about the whole if n was the one who was pregnant thing and that did clear a lot up also to clarify why I said mom it’s sort of a habit of mine from my own fankids stuff sorry about that, but I was also going to ask if you had any pregnancy headcannons of n sorry if I’m being annoying or anything by asking I’m just curious.

No worries, you’re not annoying! Unfortunately though I don’t really have any concrete headcanon’s regarding N’s pregnancy with Oliver since I don’t think there was anything particularly remarkable about it. Oliver was a planned baby, and things progressed smoothly! All the “more interesting” things happened with the twins, since they were an accident and Hilbert and N weren’t technically dating at the time, so over the course of the pregnancy is when they establish their relationship, not to mention all the fears they (especially N) had regarding becoming parents for the first time. By the time Oliver is born, they’re married and in a much more stable relationship, plus they’ve got more experience with what to expect after the twins and after their friends had their own babies!

I just tend to have more hcs about pregnancies if there’s something more happening around them or something out of the norm, like relationship drama, unusual circumstances, etc. All of that sort of thing only happens before and after Oliver is born (as he’s a reincarnation and that has its own brand of baggage).
