Oliver 20, 21, 26, 44, and 47!

20. Do they like musicals? Music in general? What do they do when they’re favourite song comes?
Oliver likes musicals as much as the next person. He has a few older plays he’s quite fond of, variations on ones that were around in his past life as well. As for music, he’s mostly a fan of classical, but recently he’s gotten quite into modern interpretations of folk as well, like folk-rock, folk-punk, etc. He doesn’t really dance when music he likes comes on, but he’ll tap his foot or nod along to the beat, and if he really likes it he might sing along under his breath.

21. Do they have a temper? Are they patient? What are they like when they do lose their temper?

Oliver is quite patient. He doesn’t lose his temper easily and tries to mediate conflicts rather than take sides and end up in an argument. But, while he tries to avoid conflict, it still finds him, and he does lose his temper occasionally. His anger can seem to come out of nowhere and he gets very ‘commanding’ so to speak when upset. He’ll get deathly calm-seeming and announce that everyone needs to leave him alone or shut up or stop arguing or whatever and then stride out of the room to be alone. Though he seems in control of his anger then, if you follow him you’ll hear him screaming into a pillow later on. He always feels awful after getting angry and will constantly apologize afterwards.

26. How do they act when they’re happy? Do they sing? Dance? Hum? Or do they hide their emotions?

Oliver tends not to express himself that much, hiding his emotions. However, he’s opened up a lot over time and now feels more comfortable showing how he’s feeling outwardly. When he’s happy, he tends to smile a lot and will be more animated in his actions. He’s also more likely to sing along to music. When he’s in a good mood, Oliver will be more active in people’s lives, wanting to help them out or cheer them up for the sole reason of helping them feel happy like him. He’ll do favors for his parents or siblings and later on, when he’s dating Mina, he’ll write love poems for her (he is a bit of a hopeless romantic).

44. What is their favourite season? Type of weather? Are they good in the cold or the heat? What weather do they complain in the most?

Oliver’s favorite season is autumn. He loves the crisp weather, the changing leaves, and the culture of the season in general – spiced drinks, sweaters, Halloween, the works. As a dragonblood, he’s more sensitive to the cold, so he’s not a fan of freezing winter temperatures, but he also hates hot weather. Thus, the cool weather of fall is perfect for him. His idea is weather that you need a sweater or jacket to stay warm, but not so cold that you need a hat and mittens. He doesn’t tend to complain outright when it’s super hot or cold, but he’ll be a bit passive aggressive about it and keep turning up the AC or the heat.

47. How do they act in a formal occasion? What do they think of black tie wear? Do they enjoy fancy parties and love to chit chat or loathe the whole event?

Oliver is used to formal events, in both lives, so he sees them as a bit of a chore, but nothing horrible. For black tie, he can be a bit old fashioned in his tastes, but most of his suits are picked out by Hilda, who is a self-proclaimed ‘formalwear queen’. He likes formal parties well enough and enjoys chatting with various people and using them as a chance to catch up with other kids he doesn’t get to see as much. If he’s out too long though, he’ll grow a bit strained in his mannerisms and not talk as much with others. Oliver also loves all the fancy food at parties and that’s half the reason he likes to go to them.

For the question thing, Carmen with 4, 7, 18, 27, 32?

4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents?

Carmen was old enough when her birth parents died to have some memories of them, but the memories are bittersweet. Her parents were pokémon researchers who were killed by wild pokémon in the field, so a lot of her memories of them are of them taking her out on trips to see wild pokémon. She treasures the memory of spending time with them, but the memories also remind her of how they died.
As for Whitney and Ethan, Carmen has a great relationship with them – especially with Ethan. Due to the nature of her parents’ death, Carmen was initially very frightened of pokémon, but Ethan helped her slowly grow accustomed to them by letting her stay with him while he worked at the Daycare. Over time, Carmen grew attached to all the pokémon that stayed there, eventually growing to love them. She now wants to be a researcher like her parents and work to find ways to help people coexist better with pokémon so that less people will get hurt like them. She still loves to help out at the Daycare, essentially working their part time while she goes to school to study environmental science and biology.
While she is closer with Ethan, Carmen also loves to spend time with Whitney. Whitney was the one who gave Carmen her starter pokémon, Edna the teddiursa and helped her decide whether or not she wanted to be a trainer. After she got more used to being around pokémon, Carmen loved to spend time at the Goldenrod Gym with Whitney, especially watching the battles. Whitney and Carmen also love to just hang out together, like having a ‘girls night’ where they watch a movie, paint each other’s nails, do face masks, and just chat about what’s going on in their lives. In general, when Carmen has a question related to raising pokémon, she asks Ethan, but if it’s a question about being a trainer or general life problems, she’ll ask Whitney.

7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood?

Carmen had a small but tight-knit group of friends as a child that she still keeps in touch with. In particular, she’s very close with Rosemary (one of Cress and Jasmine’s triplets) and Luna (Bugsy and Aaron’s daughter). These three formed a very close friend group as children. There was some drama when Luna suddenly decided to move to Kanto, but the three still keep in touch with messaging and video chats, and Luna visits home fairly frequently. With Luna living further away, Carmen mainly hangs out with Rosemary now, but she’s also tentatively befriended Sage, since she admires him for his relation to two generations of Professor Oak’s, but right now it’s more of a fangirl-type deal than an actual friendship.

18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else?

Carmen’s favorite genres are nonfiction – especially nature documentaries and books, and mystery. She loves watching nature documentaries in particular and all the ones she’s seen has inspired her to travel the world one day. She loves mystery novels since she likes to solve problems, being a very logical sort of person. She always tries to figure out the solution to the mystery before she finishes reading, doing the same thing with mystery movies as well. In fact, she has a bit of a bad habit of making predictions while watching movies and, since she tends to be good at solving puzzles, often gets them right, much to the annoyance of the people watching with her. As for music, she likes a wide range of genres depending on what she’s doing. For studying, she always listens to classical, for working out, she loves upbeat modern pop music, and for just hanging out, she prefers indie music – especially if it has acoustic guitar in it. She tried learning how to play when she was younger but it never stuck, so now she settles to listening to the instrument. Carmen doesn’t really play video games, but she does have a few puzzle games on her phone she enjoys when she has spare time or is waiting for something. Rosemary keeps trying to get her to play games like Ace Attorney though, since she’s convinced Carmen would love mystery-solving games like that.

27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad?

Though it’s been about 10 years since her parents died, Carmen still has moments where she’s hit by grief. Often, she’ll find herself reading something that she thinks her father would have liked, or hear a song her mother would have liked and the realization she can’t share it with them just hits her all at once. When she’s at home, she’ll tend to shut herself in her room when she’s feeling upset and cry to herself, usually putting on music or a tv show to try and distract herself. Ethan and Whitney always try to cheer her up while also giving her space – bringing her herbal tea or a hot meal or just letting her know that they’re there if she wants to talk. Carmen does sometimes just vent all her sadness with her adoptive parents as well, being hugged and just being able to say all the things bothering her. When she’s not at home, Carmen will usually call her parents or one of her friends, just to have someone there. These moments are less frequent as time passes, but she still gets sad occasionally, so knowing that her friends and family are there for her makes all the difference.

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

Carmen likes clothes with fun patterns on them that are also practical and comfortable for travelling. She usually wears patterned cardigans over plain t-shirts with jeans and comfortable sneakers or boots. When it comes to buying clothes, she likes to shop with Whitney, and they go to a variety of stores, from modern fashion to second hand vintage shops. Carmen likes to look both cute and professional with her wardrobe. She tends to wear matching pajama sets to bed – something that Rosemary teases her endlessly about, but Carmen is steadfast in her opinion that matching jammies are adorable. As for hair and makeup, Carmen likes to wear her hair loose with a headband keeping it back, but will put it up into a ponytail if it gets in the way. She wears a bit of makeup, foundation, mascara, and lipgloss mainly, since, while she likes wearing makeup, she hates taking forever to get ready in the morning.

For my boy Draco: 3, 11, 19, 31, 39, 50?

Sure thing!

03. What would be their favorite physical trait about themselves?

Draco is really fond of his hair. He carefully styles it every morning and probably uses too much hair gel, but he thinks he looks cool so that’s all that matters.

11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?
The better question is what wouldn’t. Draco has anger issues. He’ll get mad if he thinks you’re insulting him, which is often. He’ll get mad at slight inconveniences like someone being late or his morning coffee being too hot. He’ll really get angry, however, when his father is brought up or when he loses or is shown up. Draco is very prideful, so when his pride is injured he’ll really fly into a rage. Honestly, though, his natural resting state is ‘disgruntled’ so it’s probably easier to count the times when he’s actually happy then those where he’s not angry about something.

19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?
Due to the fact he’s always angry and is generally an asshole, yes Draco often gets into fights, both physical and verbal. He prefers not to fight physically though, and if it comes to that he’ll usually suggest a Pokémon battle instead. He loves arguing with people, however, and will occasionally purposefully push people’s buttons just so they can yell at each other. He hates backing down or losing a fight, so he’ll draw things out as long as he can just so he can win or gain the upper hand. It’s honestly quite tiring for the other person most of the time.

31. Would your character be the kind capable of killing? Would they enjoy killing or only use it when necessary or, perhaps, refuse to kill no matter what?
For all his anger issues, Draco would probably not be able to kill someone in cold blood. In self-defense, certainly, but he tends to back down if whoever he’s conflicting with is seriously injured, or is in serious danger. He’s saved the lives of people he hates before, because while he’s confrontational and difficult to get along with, he takes death very seriously. He’s experienced loss and knows first-hand how difficult losing someone is, and he would never inflict that on someone. If he has a quarrel with someone, it’s with them alone: he’s never going to get their family and friends involved. In fact, Draco despises people who kill without reason more than any others. If he ever killed someone not in self-defense, it would be a murderer who themselves have no qualms about killing.

39. When people look at your character, is there some assumption they might make about them just by appearance? Is that assumption correct?

From his gelled hair, to his dark clothing, to his capes, to the smug little smile on his face, everything about Draco’s looks scream ‘smug asshole’ and that is 100% accurate. Draco is perfectly fine with people judging him on his looks because hopefully it means they’ll either leave him alone or pick a fight with him. However, he also tends to attract a lot of fans for his dark and mysterious vibes, and he has no idea what to do about that. Sometimes he’ll date one of his fans for a bit as he tends to do, but the day he found out about the fan blog dedicated to ‘how hot and dreamy he was’ was a very confusing one for him.

50. If your character confessed love to their crush, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc, what would they say?
Getting Draco to confess his love would be like pulling teeth. He would never confess first. Even in his ‘dating around’ period, he never really confessed love to any of his partners. When he finally settled down with Addie, his confession was more of a response than anything. Addie confessed her love and Draco replied, after a bit of time to think about it, that he loved her as well. It was very low-key, which is his style. Draco is not a very affectionate person, so he’s not the type to make flowery proclamations of his undying love. He rarely says ‘I love you’ to his wife, but Addie knows he cares about her through his actions rather than his words.

Do Clair and Luca ever get reunited? Or does he remain forever stuck in the past?

As of right now, Luca stays in the past along with Azar. I think he will probably have the chance to let his family know he’s ok though. Maybe through Celebi (which is how he got stuck in the past in the first place.) He and Azar actually end up settling down in the past – getting jobs, integrating into society, even eventually falling in love with each other and starting a family. He’s sad that he can no longer see his mother and sister and the rest of his clan, but he’s pretty happy with his life as well. I think once she gets news that he’s safe and doing well, Clair will be fine with that. As long as Luca’s okay, that’s all that matters.

You mention in your family section that Clair is a single mother. What are the circumstance behind that (adoption, surrogate, accident, spouse died, etc) and how is her relationship with her kids?

Clair is happily single with no interest in dating and has always been such. Adelinda and Luca were both born via artificial insemination (so I suppose they are technically half-siblings). Clair originally planned on only having Adelinda, but after Lance had Draco, she decided that she wanted to have another child. Adelinda and Noelle were close in age and got along well, so Clair thought it would be nice for Draco to have a second cousin playmate as well. However, there were more issues with conceiving this time around, and it took about three years for Clair to have a successful pregnancy, so Luca is a couple years younger than Draco. As for her relationship with her kids, it’s…. a bit strained and somewhat distant. Noelle’s death was very rough for Adelinda, who was present during the accident and was badly injured. She has survivor guilt and blames herself for ‘allowing’ Noelle to die. As a result, Adelinda is quite withdrawn and closed off, dedicating her time to being a trainer and later a Gym Leader to an extreme degree. Clair was never entirely sure how to best help her daughter through her grief and for much of Adelinda’s childhood their relationship was rather strained. Currently, however, they are doing much better as Adelinda has found her own sources of support and Clair has found it easier to connect with her daughter as she matured. Their relationship is meant to mirror Lance and Draco’s, which starts of very close, but grows estranged as Draco becomes older.

While Adelinda and Clair had difficulties getting along (probably in no small part due to their similar personalities), Luca always got along well with his mother. He’s very mild-mannered and prefers to avoid conflict when he can. The artist to Adelinda’s politician I suppose. Clair was determined to stay close to Luca after her relationship with Adelinda deteriorated as she didn’t want the same to happen with her younger child. She did her best to make time to spend with him and cultivate his interest in writing, reading, and calligraphy. Their relationship was still always a bit distant, as Clair was still often away on work business or clan business, but Luca would say that he gets along well with his mother. Their closer relationship, sadly, just made it all the more devastating for Clair when Luca goes missing in his late teens along with his close friend, Azar. Even now, years later, when many others have given up hope, Clair is determined that Luca is still alive out there (luckily he is, as he and Azar both ended up travelling back in time a few centuries). The loss of Luca is also a factor that helped Clair and Adelinda grow closer. All in all, she’s a mother who tries her best to raise her children well, even if there are issues along the way, and her children know and appreciate her for that.

Draco with 22, 27, 31, and B?

Sure thing! Thanks for the ask!

22. How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?

Draco has a tendency to become very withdrawn and cold when he’s jealous. He’ll act passive aggressive and distant towards someone when he’s jealous of them, particularly when he’s jealous of a relationship they have. He has a bad habit of not getting along with people who don’t share his views, but then because he just gets really distant when he’s bothered by someone or jealous of them and expects them to figure out what the problem is, people just leave him alone since they don’t want to deal with all that. And then he gets pouty because everyone’s ignoring him. He’s rather emotionally immature that way, which is something he grows out of somewhat as he heads into his late teens and twenties, especially after returning home and settling down with Addie.

27. What causes them to feel dread?

Draco is extremely protective of his friends and family. Any of them being in danger is essentially his worst nightmare. The death of his sister and his father’s subsequent injuries when he was very young instilled a premature sense of mortality in him. Draco is terrified of his loved ones getting hurt to the point of paranoia. Even when his relationship with Lance is strained, Draco still regularly makes sure his father is in good health. I would say his greatest fear is knowing a loved one is in danger, but being unable to help them. This scenario already happened to him once and the thought of it happening again definitely instills dread in him.

31. Who are they the most glad to have met?

I suppose the ‘expected’ answer here would be his wife, Addie, but I think Draco is actually most thankful to have met Maia. Maia is such a no-nonsense and direct kind of woman, that she was exactly the kind of person Draco needed to meet to snap him out of a lot of the bad mindsets and habits he fell into in his teenage years. Maia was essentially the person Draco *thought* he was, and she was able to help get him started back on the right track with a bit of tough love. To this day, Draco is extremely grateful for all the help Maia gave him and considers her one of his closest friends and mentors.

B) What inspired you to create them?
Gosh. Draco is definitely one of my older fankids, and I originally created him just to flesh out Johto a bit, have some more Honshuese dragonblood characters, some older fankids for Renato to interact with, etc. He was never really fleshed out that much until I decided to go fully aboard the Langst Train and introduced Noelle and her death. (Yes, Noelle was created to be killed off, I’m sorry sweetie, at least you get to be a cool ghost kid.) From there I was able to solidify his character better. Draco went from ‘bro goofball who is at odds with Adelinda because she dislikes his attitude’ to ‘closed off and damaged young man with a superiority complex, father issues, and a host of deep-rooted problems whose character arc involves discovering his own faults and overcoming past trauma on a journey of self-discovery before returning to his roots to settle down happily with his childhood friend.’ Which is a lot more interesting in my opinion, at least.

I’ll ask about Georgia and Luke’s children then! Have you thought about what they look like and what kind of trainers they are?

Sure thing!

Luke and Georgia have two children, Siegfried and Brynhild. Their parents decided to name them after characters in an epic fantasy movie they both love because honestly they’re both kinda huge nerds (even if Georgia doesn’t like to admit it). Sieg is the older brother by 6 years and has auburn hair (similar shade to Luke’s but has a reddish tinge from Georgia’s pink) and blue eyes. He’s currently off on a journey to study rare pokémon. Much to his mother’s dismay, he loves dragons the most, but the two still get along fairly well despite their differences. Sieg is rarely home, but he has a tendency of sending back fossils, strange eggs, and other things he finds on his travels. He sort of works as a field researcher for Nate, who is a professor in this universe.

Bryn is a coordinator and a primarily ice-type trainer. She has Georgia’s dark pink hair and blue eyes. She was inspired to train ice types both by her mother, and by Brycen, who is one of her favorite actors and someone she’s met a few times before as her parents both work in the film industry. Bryn is also really into fairy tales and legends and is a fencer. She wants to be like a knight from all her favorite stories so while she does mainly train ice-types, she also trains steel and fairy types as well. Her stage name is the ‘Radiant Valkyrie.’ Her starter is an Alolan Ninetails her brother sent back as an egg from his travels in Alola. Bryn is also Mindy’s (Hugh and Yancy’s daughter) biggest rival. The two can’t stand each other and always fight whenever they meet up.

That’s about all I know about these two for now, but it was fun working on them! Thanks for the ask!

Tell me about what happens with my boy, Ethan! Or my actual best boy, Hilbert (or really just whichever male protag you feel like talking about more, I ain’t picky)?

Or I could do both!
The female protagonists are canon in my universe, so Ethan and Hilbert are closer to minor characters this time around.

Ethan is Lyra’s childhood friend and grew up in New Bark with her. His father works for the Elm Laboratory as a researcher, but Ethan’s always been more interested in following his grandparents’ work at the day care. He wasn’t super involved in the whole Team Rocket plot, though he did help take down a few grunts in Goldenrod during the radio takeover. He doesn’t really see himself as much of a trainer, preferring to raise and take care of pokémon rather than battle with them. He eventually starts working full time at the day care and visiting Goldenrod frequently, which is how he and Whitney started dating. The two eventually got married, but had difficulty conceiving a child, so they decided to adopt Carmen. She’s their only child, but the two of them have plenty of work on their hands running the Day Care together as Ethan took it over from his grandparents. Whitney ends up retiring from her Gym Leader job as well to work full time at the Day Care, which she enjoys more than running a Gym if she’s honest. Ethan is still best friends with Lyra and gets along pretty well with Silvio as well. Renato and Celeste consider him an uncle figure.

Hibert is Hilda’s younger twin brother in this universe. When Hilda went on her Gym Challenge journey, Hilbert decided to pursue a career in the acting industry instead, as a talent scout. He got an internship at a talent agency in Nimbasa and still works there full time today. In fact, he later helps his cousin Rosa kick start her own acting career. After all the Legendary Pokémon return to their human forms, Hilbert ends up hosting Albin (one of the Twin Heroes of Unovan Legend) at his apartment in Nimbasa until he could find a job and place to live. He’s worked with all sorts of people before and has great interpersonal skills, hence why he volunteered to host Albin. What he didn’t expect was the two of them to end up falling in love during this time. In the end, the two of them just clicked personality wise and found they had a lot of shared interests. Albin never did move out as he had started dating Hilbert, but he does find work at a local library, eventually getting a full time job as an archivist and historian, which he loves. Hilbert still lives in Nimbasa with his husband and their twins, Eban and Avoria. He’s close with his family, both Hilda and her husband and kids and his cousins Rosa and Nate and their families. Hilbert’s kind of the node of their network, the one who’s house everyone ends up at and who organizes a lot of family get togethers. He’s a very social guy so loves networking with everyone.
