!!! what kind of supernatural beings are there in your world??? id love to know more!!!!

There are all sorts! Some are much more well known than others. First of all: mages. I wouldn’t say that they would count as ‘supernatural creatures’ since they’re essentially people with magic powers, but they do exist! Mages are a small portion of the population and their magic essentially deals with the soul. I’ll do a longer post on them next week since it would take up way too much space to discuss the magic system of this world in whole here.

Next up – well-known non-human species. There are two that everyone knows about and are well integrated into society. The most prominent would be dragonbloods. I would say maybe about 5% of the population are dragonblood? But don’t quote me on that, it’s not finalized yet haha. Dragonbloods are essentially what they sound like: humans with a touch of dragon blood in them. Their origin is kind of unknown and each clan has their own origin story ranging from being blessed by dragon gods to being descended from them. They look mostly human, but have pointed ears, small fangs, and vertical pupils. They have different internal workings from humans as well; they live longer (130-150 years is typical), have different immune systems, and are more resilient to the elements (aside from the cold, which they are sensitive to). Historically, they have typically been rulers and upper-class citizens, a trend that has continued to the modern day with many Champions being dragonbloods, including Lance Fusube, Wallace Lu, Cynthia Drakonova, and Iris Pendragon. Dragonbloods are considered a subspecies of humans but they don’t really like that. You can think of them as the ‘stuck up fantasy elves’ of this world haha.

And the last ‘well-known’ supernatural species would be the Malachim. These guys are full-on supernatural no where near human in any aspect. Their history is kind of interesting, essentially this race is a remnant of a millennia-old disagreement between two ancient brother-deities. The ancestors of the Malachim were a race created by these two gods and essentially served as aids/intermediaries for them – these gods were big back their day and had so many worshipers they needed helpers to communicate with everyone. Eventually, however, the two brothers had a fight that resulted in two factions – their messengers being split in loyalties between their two masters. The god that won banished his brother and all the messengers who sided with him to the mortal realm as punishment and from those exiled messengers the Malach race came to be. Somewhere between mortal and divine, the modern descendants of those original exiled messengers tend to live in nomadic tribes on the fringes of society, preferring not to interact with ‘mortals’. They are a mono-gender race, appearing physically similar to human males and reproduce asexually through magic (though they can reproduce the ‘traditional’ way with human females, the resulting children are creatively known as ‘half-malachim’). There are probably other species of semi-divine origin similar to them, but these guys are the only extensively known ones.

Of course, there are dozens and dozens of ‘unconfirmed’ beings. Supernatural folk who are only known through legends and scattered reports. They exist, I can confirm that, but to the average person of this AU, they’re closer to cryptids – beings that might be real but also might not. Think of any supernatural creature or being from any folklore around the world, chances are a similar being exists in secret in this world.

You have so many kids, I don’t know who to choose! So let’s do same name buddies? How about Kyra with 4, 8, 23, 24, 27, 45, and 49?

Sure thing! (Fair warning, Kyra is one of my ‘minor fankids’ meaning she would fall under the ‘npc with one or two lines’ category in a pokémon game. That doesn’t mean she’s not an interesting person though! I just don’t know a whole ton about her haha.)

4. What do they look like?
Kyra takes after her mother, Dahlia, in coloring, with black hair, blue eyes, and tanned skin, but her features and wavy hair are closer to her father, Lucian. She’s of average height and on the skinnier side. She is near sighted, but wears contacts unlike her father and brother, who wear glasses.

8. What’s their sense of style/fashion?
Kyra prefers very professional, preppy clothing. She likes blazers, button-down shirts, pencil skirts, dressy flats and low heels especially. She typically wears her hair in a low bun to keep it out of her face rather than try anything fancy with it. She typically wears light makeup – concealer, mascara, and lip tint.

23. Which traits they share with their parent(s)?
Kyra is very similar in personality to her father. Both are bookworms, both have an interest in the human mind (philosophy and the science of espers for Lucian, psychology for Kyra), both are espers (tekinetics, specifically, which is the most common esper ability), and both have similar fashion sense. Kyra does share some traits with her mother, however, aside from looks. She loves music, especially fast paced music and while she doesn’t dance, she does tap her feet to the beat. She also loves games of chance, a huge guilty pleasure she also shares with Dahlia, and can often be found in the Veilstone Game Corner when not at working on her Masters Degree at Veilstone University.

24. How do they get along with their parent(s)?
Kyra gets along quite well with both her parents – perhaps a bit more with her father due to their similar personalities. She and Lucian also have a lot of shared interests that they will talk for hours about. Most of Kyra and Dahlia’s interactions involve Dahlia taking her second daughter out on the town for shopping trips, dinner out, maybe a movie. Kyra really appreciates this since she doesn’t really get out much on her own and enjoys the time spent bonding with her mother. In this case, their differences make their relationship work out well since they can introduce each other to new things.

27. Are they closer with one parent over the other?
Already kind of answered this above, but Kyra is definitely closer to Lucian.

45. What are they like at parties?
Kyra is definitely not a party person. She’d be the type to find a quieter room or corner and spend the party talking with a few people and nursing one drink for the whole night. She’s not one for dancing or mingling and dislikes getting drunk, not to mention the noise would bother her as she wouldn’t be able to hear the conversation she’s trying to have. In the end, she would probably try to simulate a small gathering by hanging out with a small group in a quite area rather than attend the actual main party.

49. Are they superstitious?
Kyra claims not to be superstitious as it’s unscientific and merely the human mind trying to find control over random chance in life etc etc, but she totally has a few little rituals she swears by, especially when it comes to the slot machines. Overall though, she’s definitely not a superstitious person aside from a few small habits.

Multiples of 10 for Tanith please!

Alrighty!

10. How are they with animals/non-humans?
I’ll take this to mean pokémon. I’d say Tanith gets along pretty well with them! She’s got an affinity for ghost and dark types in particular and has a lot of them on her team. She’s also not intimidated by traditionally ‘scary’ pokémon since her mother and family friends have some very powerful ‘mons on their teams.

20. What are their eating habits/favorite foods?
Tanith has a real thing for hot food, but she’ll eat just about anything. And by hot food I mean both temperature and spice wise. Her absolute favorite food is a nice hot bowl of spicy borscht after coming inside from the Sinnoh chill.

30. Do they have any siblings?
Nope! Tanith is an only child, and perfectly happy to be one. She’s quite spoiled by her parents. If she had to name someone she considered a sibling, however,  it would for sure be Emery. The two are childhood friends just like their parents were and Tanith sees Emery as an older sister figure.

40. What’s a bad memory that they have?
When Tanith was fairly young, she was briefly kidnapped by cultists. While Jeshir’s demigod/former-legendary status wasn’t advertised, it wasn’t unknown either, and Giratina has a lot of ….. unsavory followers. One particular group thought that Tanith could give them magic powers or something since she was his daughter, so the took her in a brief moment when she was unattended after school. It didn’t take long for her parents to track her down and lay some righteous justice down on the cultists, but the memory is still a terrible one for Tanith. She occasionally gets nightmares about the incident.

50. Do they prefer to preserve memories (pictures, blogging, journals, etc.) or live in the moment?
Tanith is a big blogger! She documents her journey on social media, especially sites like Instagram and Twitter – sharing pictures, anecdotes, etc. She has quite a few followers, in no small part thanks to being the Champion’s daughter, but also since her energy and sense of adventure are infectious even through just her blog posts.

Levi for 4, 10, 22, 25, 43?

4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?

May was the strict parent, Lisia was the lenient one. Levi figured out pretty early on that while his best little pout and kicked-puppy look would get Lisia to ease up on the punishment, that trick didn’t work on May at all. Eventually, however, Lisia caught on as well and started to be a bit stricter with her son when he tried to get out of trouble by acting cute. Now Uncle Wallace and Uncle Steven, on the other hand, despite being fathers themselves, were totally lenient with their grandnephews any time they babysat them – letting them eat tons of junk food, stay up late, watch R-rated movies, the works. They were totally trying to play up the ‘cool uncle’ angle.

10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted?

Levi is very emotionally intelligent, so to speak. He’s good at reading people and figuring out the best ways to cheer them up or approach them. He’s the type of friend who everyone goes to for relationship advice or if they’re feeling down. He has a real way with people and easily makes close friends. He’s also a very good gift giver. In terms of book-smarts, he has a bit more trouble, but he can always count on Solomon to help him with his math homework in exchange for some sweets or something.

22. Who are their friends? Lovers? ‘Type’ or ‘ideal’ partner?

Levi has a whole ton of friends, but his closest ones are probably Caleb (Flannery’s son), Nora (Winona’s daughter), Apollon (Wallace and Steven’s son), and Eve (Brendan’s daughter). He’s been dating Rhys (Wally and Anabel’s son) for about a year now and the two get along really well. Levi and Rhys had been close friends from a pretty young age and their relationship evolved from good friends to lovers fairly naturally. It helps the Rhys is also totally Levi’s type and he finds his boyfriend super hot.

25. What are their hobbies and interests?

Levi’s always loved performing, which led to his current work as a contest idol. He loves singing and dancing and showing off his wonderful pokémon as it brings joy to both him and the audience. He really loves anything that makes others happy, pretty much. He also has an interest in modelling and has done a few shoots organized with help from Uncle Wallace. A less public hobby of his is actually spiritualism and crystals. He first got into crystals from Apollon, who makes jewelry, and then later found an interest in the spiritual side of them, which led into an interest in astrology and tarot reading and the like. Solomon thinks he’s ridiculous for ‘buying into it all’ but Levi loves checking his horoscope and getting in touch with his magic through stones and mindfulness.

43. Does your character have any secrets? If so, are they holding them back?

Levi doesn’t have any huge life-changing secrets, but he does have a bad habit of hiding his insecurities. He feels like he needs to be the emotional pillar for his friends and family and doesn’t like to admit how tiresome it can be for him between his idol work and keeping up his social life. Rhys and Solomon are two of the only people he feels comfortable confiding in. He feels like he can’t tell his parents because they both have high-energy public jobs as well (as a Frontier Brain and Gym Leader) and because he doesn’t want to admit doing what he loves can be too much work sometimes. Keeping his stress a secret is going to come back to bite him soon since barely anyone knows how much he’s struggling.

Multiples of five for Oliver and Nika please! :D

20. What were the most deeply impressive political or social, national or international, events that they experienced?

These are a bit shorter than normal due to there being so many questions, sorry.

5. Were they overprotected as a child? Sheltered?

Oliver: As the youngest, Oliver was certainly doted on by his older siblings, who tend to be protective. However, thanks to being a reincarnation, Oliver is actually the oldest mentally of his family, which led to him being the responsible one most of the time. His parents wanted him to have as good a childhood as possible, but it’s hard to coddle a grown man in a child’s body who had lived through war. Oliver certainly doesn’t complain about being spoiled though!

Nika: Nika was spoiled rotten by their parents! In terms of being sheltered however, since they are a reincarnation just like Oliver, they had already seen a lot of the bad sides of life. While Nika would have enjoyed to run wild in their youth just as they had in their first childhood, Marlon and Caitlin certainly tried to keep them on a short leash, so to speak. As such, Nika can be rather restless at times, and tends to act out when left unsupervised.

10. Is your character street-smart, book-smart, intelligent, intellectual, slow-witted?

Oliver: Oliver is quite book-smart and a quick thinker. However, he suffers from indecision frequently, and only in the heat of the moment does his true innovation shine. He enjoys reading and history as a hobby and has quite the wealth of knowledge.

Nika: Nika is certainly quite street smart. They learned to think and act quick in order to run away from home frequently as a child. They are also quite charismatic and skilled at talking their way out of trouble.

15. Did they graduate? High-School? College? Do they have a PHD? A GED?

Oliver: Currently, Oliver is a sophomore in high-school. He will go on his year study next year and plans on taking on the Unova League challenge like his parents and siblings did.

Nika: Nika graduated high-school in 3637 and chose to enter medical school in the hopes of perhaps helping their currently comatose old lover, Aldus. University is soul crushing but Nika is soldiering through.

20. What were the most deeply impressive political or social, national or international, events that they experienced?

Oliver: In his past life as Farran Harmonia, Oliver was the younger brother of Unova’s twin heroes. When his siblings’ conflict threatened the entire kingdom, he sealed them into the light and dark stones along with their dragons, then inherited the throne.

Nika: In their past life as Yasha Ilyin, Nika was the lover of Prince Aldus of a Unova even more ancient than the era of the twin heroes. After Aldus was deified as the original dragon, Nika went on to marry Aldus’ twin sister, Queen Rohesia, though the marriage was one of convenience rather than love as Yasha – and Nika are loyal to Aldus to this day.

25. What are their hobbies and interests?

Oliver: Oliver enjoys reading, writing, studying history, and taking long walks or runs in nature.

Nika: Nika enjoys swimming, rebelling against their parents, showing off their magic, and camping.

30. Are they holding on to something in the past? Can they forgive?

Oliver: Oliver is still haunted by his older siblings’ war and is terrified that his new siblings will also end up fighting. Any conflict in his family, even petty arguments sets him on edge. He has yet to forgive Albin and Ciara, but perhaps one day he will as family is something he values more than anything.

Nika: Nika is rather obsessed with finding a way to wake Aldus up after he returns to his human form in 3620 along with the rest of the legendaries. Since Aldus’ dragon body was split in twain by the twin heroes, his soul no longer resides in his body and the original Aldus, rather like the husk of Kyurem he turned back from. Nika vows to one day bring Aldus back and will stop at nothing to achieve that goal.

35. Do they always rationalize errors? How do they accept disasters and failures?

Oliver: Despite his years of experience, Oliver does not do well with failure. Being faced with any decently large error or bad situation can lead him to freeze up, though when he does get going he’s quite a quick thinker under pressure.

Nika: Nika tends to well even when faced with mistakes. Their charisma lets them bluff their way through many things. However, this leads to them having a habit of being in denial of wrongdoing or mistakes made.

40. How is their sense of humor? Do they have one?

Oliver: Oliver’s sense of humor is rather….. stilted. He tries is best bless him but what he finds amusing most others find charmingly awkward.

Nika: Nika has a great sense of humor. They adore wordplay and riddles and tend to throw them into their daily conversation, which is rather irksome to some.

45. Is your character pragmatic? Think first? Responsible? All action? A visionary? Passionate? Quixotic?

Oliver: Oliver tends to be very rational to his approach on life. He has a habit of overthinking his problems, and often ends up unable to choose a course of action. He’s quite a strategist however, and excels in leadership positions.

Nika: Nika is a very quick thinker and while pragmatic, also mainly looks out for themselves. They often come up with plans of action on the fly and rely on instinct to back them up in a pinch.

50. What are the prevailing facial expressions? Sour? Cheerful? Dominating?

Oliver: Oliver has a very serious resting expression that doesn’t really reflect his true mood most of the time. He is constantly being told to smile or lighten up, though he has yet to train himself to look more content.

Nika: Nika shifts between moods and is a very good actor. They’ll play up their expressions to garner sympathy or strike fear though their neutral face is one of light boredom.
