What was Saturn’s reaction when he found out he had a son?

Well, by the time Cyrus and Aeon are recovered from the Distortion World, it’s been almost 6 years since the events on Spear Pillar. All the admins have moved on (or begun to move on) from their Galactic days and gone their separate ways. Jupiter and Mars got harsher sentences due to being at Spear Pillar, so mostly have dropped out of the public eye, while Saturn moved up to Snowpoint and became the Gym Leader there (as mentioned in this post). Prior to becoming the Gym Leader, when he was still new to the city (well, it was his hometown, but he hadn’t lived there in years), Saturn ran into Archer, who had also come there because it was so remote. The two ended up talking and discovered how much they had in common, which led to them becoming roommates, which led to a romantic relationship starting. A few years later, they’re married with a daughter, Ceres, and are generally happy with where their lives are – until the reappearance of Cyrus shakes everything up.

When they first are brought back from the Distortion World, Cyrus and Aeon move in with Cyrus’s sister, Johanna, in Twinleaf and live there for a while as they acclimate to being back in the normal world (especially since Aeon had never lived anywhere but the Distortion World). All of this was intentionally kept under wraps since Dawn knew any kind of attention was the last thing Cyrus and Aeon needed, so Saturn wouldn’t have found out via the news or anything. So the reunion between them only happens at Cyrus’s own pace, which takes a while. Eventually, and with some encouragement, Cyrus decides that he really should reach out to Saturn and tell him about Aeon, since his former right-hand deserves that much at least.

This is Cyrus though, so he basically just… shows up at Saturn & Archer’s home in Snowpoint with little Aeon in tow, so needless to say it’s A Lot for Saturn to process. He’d accepted that Cyrus was gone for good and moved on with his life and now all of it had come crashing back without warning, so it takes him a while to work through his reactions and feelings about it. With Aeon, however, it’s easier than dealing with Cyrus. Saturn is already a father, he knows how to handle that, so he does his best to bond with Aeon and invites him over quite frequently. He wants to be part of Aeon’s life, especially since he does worry a bit about how he’ll turn out if Cyrus is the only major adult influence in his life (which leads him to bond with Johanna unexpectedly since she’s also very involved in her nephew’s upbringing for the same reason). Since Cyrus usually comes with Aeon on his visits, the two eventually have to confront everything and end up having a lot more heartfelt conversations than they’d ever had, being more honest with each other about things. Saturn can see that these past years have changed Cyrus, and Cyrus has a lot to ruminate on seeing this side of Saturn where he’s not just devoted to him and Galactic. (And Archer just keeps taking Aeon and Ceres on day trips since the tension at home between his husband and his husband’s sort-of-ex is so thick.)

But over time, now that there’s no Galactic backdrop and both of them have had time away from that and each other, Saturn and Cyrus are able to develop a better and healthier relationship. While Archer doesn’t have any kind of past with Cyrus, he knows how much Saturn still feels for him (he was/is the same with Giovanni after all), so he supports the reconciliation and makes the effort to bond with Cyrus as well. Eventually, Cyrus doesn’t really want to keep living with his sister anymore and spends enough time up in Snowpoint anyways that he (and Aeon) just move in with Archer and Saturn. So yeah, basically Saturn meeting Aeon and Aeon existing at all is what leads to him and Cyrus reconciling ultimately since if there hadn’t been a kid he might not have been able to bring himself to confront Cyrus or at least it would have been a lot slower and probably wouldn’t have ended in the throuple ending.

I’ve been really interested in the Pokémon Let’s Go games these few days and so I was wandering what did you do with the main characters (Chase, Elaine and Trace) in your verse.

In the L&L AU, Chase and Elaine are twins and Trace is one of their childhood friends. The trio are all two years younger than the Red/Green/Yellow group and are the same age as Leaf, their other childhood friend. Growing up, Leaf, Elaine and Chase especially used to get into a lot of trouble, even breaking the law sometimes with stunts like trespassing and petty thievery. As time passed however, Elaine began to distance herself from such shenanigans and spend more time with the more dutiful Trace. When the time came for them all to leave Pallet for their pokémon journeys, Elaine and Trace chose to head out on their own as rivals rather than deal with whatever scheme Chase and Leaf were likely to come up with this time. And boy did those two have a scheme.

Leaf had heard rumors that Team Rocket wasn’t as defeated as everyone thought they were and she and Chase decided to investigate this for themselves. While Elaine and Trace’s journey was very similar to the plot of the Let’s Go games, just with much less Team Rocket influence (so a basic journey around Kanto challenging gyms), Leaf and Chase were busy poking their heads into the criminal underworld. The two eventually do find Team Rocket by tracking down one of their secret bases. When they get caught by a grunt, however, Chase claims that they were interested in joining the team, hoping that would get them out of trouble. Instead, the grunt takes them seriously and brings the two young teens straight to Archer who figures they show enough promise to be able to start on some low-level grunt work.

Now rather in over their heads, Chase and Leaf have no choice but to go along with their orders, which is mostly just busywork as they’re still kids. While both are initially working together in what is essentially a gofer position, eventually Leaf discovers something unexpected – her grandfather, Blaine’s, name on one of the documents belonging to a scientist. Intruiged, she’s able to arrange a transfer to be a scientist assistant instead, and starts on a journey to discover the truth behind Mewtwo and her grandfather’s involvement in the project.

Chase, meanwhile, keeps at his grunt work, eventually getting promoted to field work, which is where he first meets Mondo, a character who appears in one of the radio dramas as the supplier to the Jessie, James and Meowth trio while they’re in Kanto. Over time, Chase and Mondo got assigned to more missions together as they were both too young to do any real criminal work, eventually being promoted to the communications department. Unlike Leaf, who leaves the team after achieving her goals surrounding Mewtwo, Chase remains a member of Team Rocket, eventually becoming a field agent with Mondo as his contact back on base. The two end up dating, eventually getting married and adopting a son, Hunter, together.

Elaine meanwhile, returned home to Pallet with Trace once the two managed to defeat the Elite Four and Champion, entering the Hall of Fame. Not long after, she learned about how her brother had gotten involved with something sketchy. She contacted him to try and urge him to leave this path behind, but Chase’s mind was set. He liked this job and found it way more fun than just being a regular trainer. The relationship between the twins never fully deteriorates, but they do have a slightly strained relationship just due to their different outlook on things, especially since Elaine eventually joins the Indigo Elite Four. Luckily, by that point, Silver has taken over Team Rocket and reformed it somewhat, so Elaine and Chase don’t have to worry as much about meeting as enemies down the line.

And what of Trace? He becomes an elementary schoolteacher in Pallet! He and Elaine are married with two daughters, Raine and Scout, and he finds the whole sibling rivalry pretty overwhelming, though he finds out on the rare family reunions that he and Mondo actually get along quite well, all things considered.

Rank order how legit (as in how likely they would be to happen in your canon) all boss/subordinate ships (for evil teams)

That’s a lot of ships Syd! But I’ll do it for you~

Giovanni/Archer (SubordinateShipping – These two probably had the best relationship out of all the boss/subordinate ships. They were just fwb even if Archer had romantic feelings, but they respected each other and remain on good terms.)

Giovanni/Ariana (SilverSpawnShipping – The only reason this is so high up is because they were married. It was not a healthy relationship though and it was a very bitter and spiteful marriage overall.)

Lysandre/Bryony (RiskShipping – They were not romantically involved and only hooked up a few times, but Lysandre never treated Bryony poorly and had he not died, he would have supported her and their son.)

Archie/Shelly (ShiverMeTimbersShipping – They probably could have dated under different circumstances, being close childhood friends.)

Guzma/Plumeria (SkullShipping – Same with Archie and Shelly, the could have easily dated under different circumstances.)

Archie/Matt (SailorShipping – Less likely than Archie/Shelly, but perhaps could have happened.)

Cyrus/Jupiter (TBHShipping – They do hook up but it’s just Cyrus indulging Jupiter hence why it’s not higher on the list.)

Cyrus/Saturn (GingaShipping – Perhaps if Saturn had been bolder, he too could have taken the same opportunity Jupiter did.)

Maxie/Courtney (AuthorityShipping – Courtney had some feelings for her boss, but never confessed them, nor did she ever expect Maxie to return them.)

Lysandre/Aliana (TriumphShipping – If Aliana had wanted to, they could have hooked up probably, but there weren’t any romantic feelings.)

Lysandre/Celosia (SuccessShipping – Same deal as with Aliana.)

Giovanni/Petrel (MusicalTheaterShipping – Same deal as with the above two.)

Giovanni/Mable (RedMapleShipping – Lysandre wasn’t really Mable’s type hence why she’s lower down on the list.)

Cyrus/Mars (BetelgeuseShipping – Mars only had a celebrity crush on Cyrus and never seriously considered her feelings to be real. She admires him, but that’s about it.)

Giovanni/Proton (DarkDesireShipping – Proton may have found his boss attractive, but he knew his brother Archer was the boss’ favorite so he wouldn’t interfere. He also would have been a teenager any time a relationship between him and Giovanni could have happened and Giovanni isn’t about that.)

Maxie/Tabitha (LeadershipShipping – I don’t headcanon Tabitha to have any romantic feelings for Maxie so…)

Lusamine/Wicke (HeavenlyShipping – Lusamine is too focused on finding her husband to bother with outside relationship.)

Lusamine/Faba (No Ship Name – Same as above.)

Lysandre/Xerosic (DoomsdayShipping – No attraction here, Xerosic has no interest in relationships while he’s focusing on getting back home.)

Cyrus/Charon (GlobalShipping – No attraction here either.)

Ghetsis/Literally Anyone (I headcanon him as ace/aro so he’s the least likely of anyone to end up in a relationship.)

Gabriele Campanula

I continue to have zero self control and those ship asks were actually evil because they made me think about pairings and dynamics I hadn’t developed previously and then that somehow turned into Giovanni and Archer having a kid? What?

Lordy. So here’s the story. I started thinking about SubordinateShipping more and more and while I never though Giovanni would reciprocate Archer’s feelings since his heart belongs to Angelo, it’s not like he’s happy with Ariana and any chance to irritate her is one he wants to take, so what I can see is Giovanni and Archer being friends-with-benefits. Then of course because I have an addiction, my acknowledging a ship is canon immediately evolved into me thinking about how I could get a fankid out of this (sigh). Long story short, towards the end of the Gen 1 timeline the fwb relationship bears fruit and Gio realizes he’s going to have a kid. Now, on the one hand, he already has two that are both over ten years old at this point and he’s not in any place to have another kid now, but on the other hand, it would really piss off his wife. He decides he was looking for an excuse to ditch TR for a while now and track down Angelo anyways so this is as good as any. He can’t really bring his 11 year old son with him for this (and his 14 year old daughter ran away from home a year ago), so he does his usual ‘sort of means well but ultimately not very helpful’ parenting technique to try and get Silvio to have interest in reforming or at least fully disbanding Team Rocket. This results in his son deciding he hates both his parents now since his dad is leaving him but hey, it all works out in the end. Gabriele Campanula is born not long after Giovanni and Angelo settle down into their new home of Castelia in Unova. Over time, the rest of the family does find out and he does tell Archer about his son (he’s not Draco lol). Still working out fully what Marcella and Silvio’s relationship with their little half-brother is, but Gabe is officially part of the Café Crew and it’s most senior member, acting as a mentor to his nephew Renato in the future (and also being Cicely’s wingman lol).

TLDR: Does this fankid need to exist? No. Do I love him after knowing him for less than an hour anyways? Yes. He’s also another ‘annoying relative’ for his cousin Atlas to interact with and will probably be the person who mainly helps Renato through his own issues so he does have a purpose, even if a minor one. Not to mention… I always liked those fanfics where Silver had half-siblings (though in those it was usually Ash or Red.)
