You’re not late at all! I’m still taking these (as this is only my second one) – keep em coming!
02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?
Draco has many insecurities that he tries to hide, mostly by projecting his less deep-seated insecurities up to the top so people don’t try to look too deeply into any other weaknesses he may have. For example, he puts his temper and short fuse front and center, to distract from his low self-esteem. Of course, this habit is an insecurity itself so if people catch on to it it’d be pretty easy to seriously throw Draco off-balance. He’s doing his best even if his best is not that great.
27. If your character was going to get arrested, what would be the most likely reason for it?
Getting into a fight, probably. Definitely he’s done other things that could get him trouble with authorities, but starting fights in public is a bit of a recurring habit that draws attention unlike some of his other self-destructive/destructive in general tendencies that manifest less obviously (or just not in public spaces where he’s making a scene).
29. What is one of the most courageous things your character has ever done for a loved one?
For Draco, throwing himself into dangerous situations barely warrants a second thought. He is fully willing to put himself in danger for the sake of someone else, especially someone he cares about, and that’s a whole rabbit hole into his self-worth issues you can jump down, but the important thing is that for him, courage in the face of an outside threat is not something that comes difficultly to him.
Rather, the most courageous thing Draco has done, in the metrics of what types of things are most difficult and hard to face for him personally, is when he first allows himself to be vulnerable in front of Cypress, to talk about his deepest worries and insecurities, and admit that he isn’t in control and desperately wants to be. Draco struggled for a long time with letting people grow close to him, so taking the initiative to be open with Cypress was a huge risk to him. He’s deeply fearful of others rejecting him if they find out his “true self”, especially people he considers friends (even people he trusts like Renato, Roy and Ulyssa he’s often reluctant to bring up his own issues with).
Cypress is someone Draco has come to deeply cherish, who isn’t someone he’s known since childhood or a relative and thus is “stuck with him”, so he seriously feared driving him away by opening up to him and losing someone who’d become so important. To Cypress, this was the moment that proved to him just how much Draco thought of their relationship, that he was willing to do something so courageous, and is what convinces him that he needs to put in the effort to make their relationship serious as well, because what they have is something both want to last. This step also serves as the foundation for Draco opening up more to his family as well and taking initiative in self-improvement and getting help, so overall one of the big important moments of his character arc.
