Main Four Family Trees

Like a year ago I started making a big family tree for this verse after Pkmn Down the Line did some (they’re on twitter and used to be on the profiles if anyone’s curious!), then promptly got distracted by something else. I got the urge to return to it, realized I now hated how it looked, so just decided to start from scratch!

To start out, I kept it simple with just the main four kids and their parents and siblings, but I definitely plan on doing more when I have the time here and there!

I think they’re pretty straight forward, the only thing I’ll mention is that the purple line means the kid (in this case Emery and Bal) is adopted.

Can you explain who all your OCs are (Agnar, Dmitry, etc.)? I’m curious.

Of the characters listed in the “OC Adults & Historical Characters” section on my directory, everyone starting from Sir Aaron is a historical character, with most of them being the past lives of certain fankids or adults who are reincarnations. Seamus is an original Team Plasma member and Cress’s ex-boyfriend, you can just picture him looking like the generic grunt with orange hair and blue eyes.

Agnar, Dimitriy, and Jeremiah are all OCs that are related! The three of them are brothers, despite the different surnames, and are all the same kind of immortal being. In fact, they’re actually the younger brothers of Solomon (who currently is the adopted son and youngest child of Cynthia & Diantha). Their kind used to serve the deities that Arceus and Giratina were created from (that is, Ellam and Jeshir) and these four, in particular, are all the direct creations of Jeshir, making them basically his sons (and Tanith’s older siblings!)

Due to events that took place thousands of years ago when Jeshir became Giratina, they and a number of their kin lost a lot of their powers and ended up stuck in the mortal plane, though they retained their immortality. Basically, the way it works is that their bodies can be killed, but if that happens they’ll simply regenerate in the form of a child (like a phoenix), weakened, and will regain their powers as they grow, eventually ceasing to age once they’re fully grown and living on until they end up with another fatal injury and regenerate again, over and over.

Over time, the brothers all went their separate ways and all have lived many different lives over the course of history, so these are just their current identities! Agnar lives in poké!Scandinavia in a remote cabin as an outdoorsman, Dimitriy travels the world as a hitchhiker and sightseer, and Jeremiah is currently a wealthy Kalosian playboy just living it up. Solomon was a scholar until he ended up regenerating in Sinnoh after an unexpected accident (or was it an accident…) and was mistaken as an abandoned child by some hikers who found him by chance, which eventually led to his adoption by Cynthia and Diantha. He’s aware of Jeshir though and his original father being in Sinnoh is the main reason he sticks with his new family. His brothers are also aware of how their father and uncle have reverted to their original forms, as well as how they now have a new baby sister, and the three of them will play a role in Tanith, Solomon & Balthazar’s story as well as the main plot.

There’s more to this backstory, involving a fifth brother who they don’t talk about and more lore about their kind but this is getting long enough as it is so I’ll save it for a later post!

A Windy Encounter

Tanith yelped as a particularly strong gust of wind rushed across the Valor Lakefront, tugging at her ponytail and nearly blowing her over.

“I really think we should go back to town!” yelled Balthazar, squinting at Tanith through the harsh wind. He had his jacket pulled tight around him and was hunched up against the hostile weather.

Tanith whipped around to glare at her friend, the motion causing her ponytail to nearly smack her in the face. “Absolutely not! I said that I was going to catch a pokémon today and I will! A real trainer wouldn’t let a little wind get in her way, after all.”

Balthazar sighed, “I guess so… but hurry it up okay? I’d rather not get blown away today if I can help it.”

Satisfied that there would be no further complaints, Tanith reached to her bag and took out a pokéball. With a click, she released her sole pokémon. Sionna immediately chirped in alarm when she was greeted by a sharp gust of wind, scurrying to hide behind her trainer’s legs for shelter.

“Aw, I’m sorry Sio,” Tanith reached down to pick up the Piplup, cradling the trembling penguin in her arms, “I should have warned you about the wind. But I need your help! We’re going to catch a new friend today!”

Hearing this, Sionna perked up, shifting in Tanith’s arms to get a better look at her surroundings. “That’s the spirit!” Tanith grinned, “We’ll find a wild pokémon in no time!”

Despite her optimism, well over 30 minutes passed and there were no signs of wild pokémon, not even common Bidoof or Starly. Balthazar shot a glare at his companion. “Now can we go back to the Pokémon Center? All the wild pokémon probably have more sense than we do and are hiding in their dens.”

“Not yet!” Tanith persisted. “I’m sure if we just look a little harder we’ll… WAIT!”  Without another word, she began sprinting to the water’s edge.

Balthazar groaned before chasing after his friend, grumbling to himself, “This better be a wild pokémon she’s spotted.”

Arriving at the lakefront, Balthazar was just in time to hear Tanith shout, “Go Sionna! Use Pou- wait no! That won’t work … um… use Bubble!,” followed by the by-now familiar sound of the Piplup using the water attack. A rather pitiful sounding cry followed, and Balthazar could finally see what pokémon Tanith had been battling – a somewhat worse-for-wear looking Drifloon, clearly hating the windy weather as much as he was.

Tanith reached to her bag, fumbling slightly but managing to grab an empty pokéball. “Ok, Tanith, you can do this. You’ve practiced. You’ve got this.” Taking a deep breath, she threw the pokéball. Both she and Balthazar held their breath as they waited for the telltale click.

Finally, the pokéball stopped shaking. After a moment, Tanith squealed in delight, grabbing the pokéball in one hand and scooping up Sionna into a hug with her other. “We did it! We caught our first pokémon!”

She paused, clearly thinking, before crouching down and setting Sionna back down. “Alright, let’s meet our new friend! Balthazar, you have to come help us make a barrier so she doesn’t blow away again!”

Balthazar knelt down in the grass next to Tanith, grimacing when he found it was damp. Nonetheless, his excitement at meeting Tanith’s new Drifloon outweighed any discomfort caused by wet jeans. Tanith pressed the button on Drifloon’s pokéball, releasing the balloon pokémon. The ghost initially cowered, sure she was going to be blown away again, but when she wasn’t she opened her eyes and looked around at the group surrounding her.

“Hello! I’m sorry Sio and I had to rough you up a bit to catch you,” Tanith apologized, handing the ghost an Oran berry, which she happily ate. “How do you like the idea of traveling with us from now on?”

When Drifloon hummed in agreement, moving closer to inspect her new trainer, Tanith’s face lit up in a grin. “That’s wonderful! Come on, let’s get you to the pokémon center so you can rest up, and we can come up with a nickname for you, and maybe even start training…” As Tanith continued talking excitedly to her new teammate, Balthazar couldn’t help but smile. Their journey was just starting out, and it was sure to be an adventure as long as he stuck with his childhood friend.

Do you have any headcanons for Green/Red, Barry/Lucas, and Hugh/Nate?

Absolutely I do!

Green/Red

  • Green is the one who managed to get Red to come down from Mt. Silver by somehow beating him in a pokémon battle. Red was so stunned by his loss he just kind of followed Green back to civilization. This is the only time Green has ever beaten Red in a battle to this day.
  • Roy was already born when the couple visit Alola in the SuMo games and was about 10 or so months old (give or take.) And yes, they brought Roy with them! Leaf and Yellow (along with baby Amaryllis) also went to Alola and ended up having to babysit Roy a lot because of Green and Red’s frequent trips to the Battle Tree, whoops.
  • Red is technically unemployed, as he doesn’t really want to officially apply to be a professional pokémon trainer due to annoying bureaucracy. He still regularly seeks out strong people to battle with though, so his skills never go rusty and also because he thinks “stay at home dad” sounds way more boring than “Multiple Hall-of-Famer Professional Pokémon Trainer.”
  • They are a very sappy couple who like to show off how in love they are, though most of that’s Green being smug (”Look at me and my husband!”) while Red just goes along with it.
  • Green likes to think he’s a super cool dad who their sons will see as a role model but more often than not they go to Red for advice instead. Whenever this happens Green ends up pouting and needs to be comforted by his husband.

Barry/Lucas

  • A couple where people sometimes wonder how they got together due to how different they are. Definitely a very wholesome case of opposites attract.
  • Since Lucas was Rowan’s assistant, the two didn’t really meet until they were around 13 and didn’t interact much until after the events of DPPt. They met by chance at the Battle Frontier and when Lucas mentioned he wanted to improve his skills as a trainer Barry took him under his wing as a “Professional Battle Frontier Tour Guide.” Their romance blossomed fairly quickly, though Barry was pretty oblivious to his feelings while Lucas was realizing that subtle flirting wasn’t going to cut it in this case.
  • Dawn officiated their wedding and got trained to do so especially for her childhood best friend.
  • By the fankid era, Barry is a Frontier Brain like his father before him and Lucas has taken over from his mentor Rowan as Sinnoh’s regional professor, though he still has trouble getting used to being called Professor Hawthorn!
  • While they only planned on having one child, mainly due to how much of a handful Gavin was, they end up adopting Balthazar by chance due to some unexpected circumstances. Namely, Barry helps Dawn (who is Sinnoh Champion) take down a Cult of Giratina after they kidnap Dawn’s daughter, Tanith. While there, they find a boy who was raised in the cult to be a sacrifice and now has nowhere to go. The kid got attached to Barry  so one thing leads to another and he and Lucas end up with another son (Barry claims that Balthazar being blond and having a long name like him was a Sign that he was meant to be part of their family from the start.)

Nate/Hugh

  • Though Nate wasn’t the BW2 protag, he and Hugh were still childhood friends as he and Rosa are twins. They had quite a bit of romantic tension between them throughout middleschool, leading Rosa to urge them to try dating after getting fed up by hearing both her brother and best friend worry about the other’s feelings to her.
  • By the time the trio leave on their journey at 15, Nate and Hugh had been dating for about a year and a half.
  • Once it became clear that Team Plasma had returned, the two teamed up to fight them whenever they could, Nate mostly being worried about Hugh getting too angry.
  • Things reach a new level when, towards the end of their journey and when it’s looking like the final showdown with Plasma is approaching, Nate finds out he’s unexpectedly pregnant. While Nate himself is nervous due to his young age, he’s also excited and all the more motivated to defeat Plasma for the sake of his and Hugh’s child. Hugh, on the other hand, is incredibly nervous that Nate and the baby might get hurt now and ends up being rather overprotective of his boyfriend. This causes a bit of friction, but ultimately they’re able to work things out (with Rosa smoothing things over as usual whenever the two squabble.)
  • Glenn is born the summer after Ghetsis is finally defeated and Hugh and Nate stay in Aspertia for his first year or so, getting help from their parents and doing their best to raise him. At that, the two start looking for jobs so they can support their family, agreeing that whoever finds one first will take it, while the other will stay home to take care of Glenn. Hugh ends up getting unexpectedly scouted by Interpol, leading the family to move to Castelia, where they get married soon after.
  • Eventually, after Hugh gets promoted when Glenn is about 4, the family move to Opelucid to be closer to the League, which becomes their permanent home. When Glenn is about 6, they end up adopted their second child, Mindy, after her mother, Yancy, was looking for someone to adopt after she became unexpectedly pregnant. Glenn and Mindy are both handfuls but their parents love them (even if they hate each other lol)

Hoenn Changes

Recently, I’ve been slowly working through all my different families and fankids, especially those who have been around since the beginning, and seeing if there are any I want to change. My latest changes have all been in Hoenn and they’re fairly major! I’ll lay them out here so none of the changes I make on the blog regarding these updates will be too surprising.

  1. I love Solomon dearly, but I felt like he just didn’t properly fit in with May and Lisia’s family and that it was holding him back as a character since I struggled to come up with hcs for how he interacts with them. As a result, he’s been “moved” to Brawly/Roxanne’s family, replacing Rudy.
  2. Additionally, Safir’s name has also been changed and she is now known as Angelica. She’s still rivals with Layla and a mentor to Eria. Solomon’s story is pretty much exactly the same despite this change, so his dynamics with Tanith and Balthazar are the same!
  3. Since I can’t really picture Levi as an only child, he now has a new younger sibling since Solomon has been “moved”. This new brother has been tentatively named Evan and I’m still developing him!
  4. Drew’s children are now quite a bit different. He still has twins and is (basically) a single dad, but rather than identical boys, he now has a girl and boy named Lydia and Francis. Their other parent is Harley, but he and Drew are not in a committed relationship and have no desire to move in together or get married or anything. Harley does play a role in Lydia and Francis’s lives though and sees them regularly. Being Harley’s biological children heavily factors into the twins’ unfriendly rivalry with Brooke (Harley’s ward).

10 facts about Tanith please?

10 Facts About Tanith Moireach

  1. She sews a lot of her own clothing, or at least alters what she buys from thrift stores. Recently, she’s discovered there’s actually a market for hand made accessories, so she’s set up an online shop for her scrunchies, patches, and clothing.
  2. She plays an equivalent of Dungeons & Dragons with some of her online friends. They have weekly meetings through video chat and it’s something she regularly looks forward to. Currently she’s playing a tiefling arcane trickster in a naval/pirate themed campaign.
  3. While she doesn’t consider herself sporty, Tanith loves to work out and tries to exercise regularly, most often going jogging or hitting the gym. She tends to have a lot of energy, even post workout and is always chipper about encouraging others to exercise as well, even if the don’t want to.
  4. She’s Balthazar’s closest friend, but she’s also close with Alan, him being her best childhood friend. She also is close with Emery, seeing her as an older sister and often emulating her.
  5. Even though they aren’t related by blood, Tanith still considers Ishtar her cousin, since the other girl is her cousin’s cousin so that must mean something! The two are rivals, but it’s fairly friendly.
  6. Tanith and Taffeta are rivals only in coordinating. Their rivalry began when they first competed against each other and Taffeta made a rude comment about Tanith’s dress that had been hand made for her by her grandmother Johanna. Tanith was so pissed she insulted the other girl right back, and an epic and vicious rivalry was born.
  7. While she’s usually pretty hesitant around her father’s more unusual traits, finding his origins and nature quite a bit weird and unnerving, she still does her best to be a good daughter. One of her favorite ways of bonding with him is through telling stories. Being so old, Jeshir has quite a few tales to tell of ancient civilizations and long-dead deities which fascinate the fantasy-loving Tanith to no end. To her, her father is like a character from one of her favorite books, so when she thinks about him that way, his being an old god isn’t so weird after all.
  8. Tanith isn’t entirely sure what she wants to do with her life, which is part of the reason she’s taking both the gym challenge and competing regularly in contests. She admires her mother for being such a cool Champion, so maybe a professional trainer would be a good idea? At the same time, she loves sewing, so maybe the fashion industry? But she adores reading, maybe she should be an author? Or a folklorist? Or a historian? Or…. well the list goes on. She’s still young so she’s got time to figure out what she wants to do.
  9. Tanith’s favorite color is blue, and her pokémon team reflects this, most of them having blue somewhere in their color scheme if not as their main color. She’s also very defensive of her pokémon, especially in contests as a number of them aren’t conventionally cute or beautiful. If anyone dares to insult her Tangrowth or Gliscor or Toxicroak they will feel her wrath.
  10. Tanith usually ends up being the mediator whenever Balthazar and Solomon are arguing (which is 75% of the time.) She doesn’t really get why they are at odds so frequently, but she’s also not a very good mediator as she’ll inevitably take Bal’s side as he’s her childhood friend. She’s doing her best.
