This is definitely not all the lesbian fankids but it is some who I know a good deal about and haven’t really discussed as much on the blog so I’ll share some hcs!
Mindy (Hugh/Yancy) – She’s your stereotypical ‘mean girl’ contest idol. Winning and being the best is her main focus and she’s very particular about her looks, making sure her hair and outfit is perfect. She likes to pretend she’s ‘above romance’ but this is not true because she is hopelessly in love with her childhood best friend and reluctant idol costar Maddie. Mindy is super tsundere about her crush which leads to Maddie not noticing it all despite having feelings herself. It’s such a silly drama-filled subplot but it suits these two perfectly. Later on, when Maddie really starts pursuing her dream of becoming Unova Champion, Mindy (who is her gf at this point) is her number one supporter and proudly proclaims herself to be the ‘future Champion’s future wife.’
Joan (Skyla/Elesa) – A hopeless romantic at heart, Joan tends to live in her own world. She’s a dreamer and lives life at her own pace, following the things that catch her eye. As a freelance journalist (she had trouble holding down a job when working directly for a publication), Joan is always chasing after a shiny new story… and picking up new crushes along the way. Her longest-running object of affection was Tipha, the bombshell baseball star. Joan would go to all of Tipha’s games she could attend and just… stare wistfully. It got to the point that her twin sister Jerrie had to intervene and tell her she was just going to end up breaking her own heart in the end. However, when Joan decides to investigate Castelia’s organized crime, she’s in for a surprise when she meets dangerously charming femme fatale Cicely. And well… let’s just say the feeling was mutual. A journalist and a professional criminal may not be the most conventional of couples but there’s certainly no love lost between Joan and Cicely!
Charlotte (Sawyer/Miette) – Charlotte is a Princess. But what she wants is to be a Queen. As one of the star up-and-coming Performers in Kalos, Charlotte often feels a lot of pressure to maintain a certain image, but at the same time, she loves dressing up fancy and being the center of attention. She’s the sort who can manage both well, which is why she ends up helping fellow Performer Isabeau with stress management. Isabeau can be uptight and hard on herself, so Charlotte does her best to help the other girl learn to be easier on herself and enjoy Performing as a passion rather than stress over it till it becomes a chore. The two are very similar in some ways, but very different in others, so they compliment each other well and the romance was a slow, gentle thing that just naturally progressed as they grew closer. It’s one of the most ‘90s shoujo-manga rose filled sparkly’ romances I have with the fankids so far!
