[insert pen emoji] + Verbena? c:

(Verbena is one of my Cilan/Clemont kids!)

She’s technology oriented like Clemont is, but rather than inventions and robots, she enjoys coding and programming, especially thinks like code-cracking, writing robot AI, and hacking. If there’s a puzzle to solve that involves code, Verbena is going to want to take it apart and tackle it.

That said, she also has a habit of messing with tech she shouldn’t and has gotten in trouble with school before for messing with teacher’s displays and the like. Whenever they get a call from school about her, Clemont is sure to give Cilan his best stink-eye since Cilan was the one who sparked her interest in coding in the first place (it being something he’s good at.)

Verbena is a pokémon trainer, but she’s not got any real ambitions beyond learning new things and spending time with her computers, so her parents sort of pressure her into trying to challenge the Kalos League to give her something to do (and she actually ends up really liking it, enjoying these high-stakes battles more than just fun battles with her fathers or brothers.) I’m not sure yet who she travels with though.

Basile’s Daughter

[This content is out of date and no longer canon (Basile most likely does not have a kid anymore. Marigold has been repurposed as Milo’s daughter.]

So. @sydchan and I had a bit of a pact that when she revealed that Marcel has a child while as a teen, I would reveal my own teen-pregnancy subplot I’ve had brewing for a while. I was debating making this canon or not, as I wasn’t sure if it fit the tone of the blog, but eventually I decided that, since teen pregnancy does of course happen in real life and is not uncommon and since this subplot ended up becoming important to the character in question, it’s now official.

In case it wasn’t obvious from the title, Basile is the one becoming a teenage father. Growing up on the streets from a young age, he didn’t exactly get the best education (or much of one at all) so when he grew into his teen years and decided to start experimenting a bit, protection wasn’t as forefront in his mind as it should have been. As such, he ends up unexpectedly pregnant and has no idea what to do about it. He doesn’t notice until a few months in, not knowing the signs and assuming he was just sick. When he does confirm that he’s pregnant, he has no idea what to do. After weighing his options, he realizes that the best he can do is try and stay healthy and hope that things work themselves out.

When he’s maybe 5 months along is when he first meets Cilan, just by chance as Basile was scavenging for useful trash behind the Lumiose Gym and Cilan was disposing of some broken inventions of Clemont’s. Obviously concerned for this pregnant teen who looks to be homeless, Cilan offers to help Baz, maybe get him a warm meal or something, and not one to turn down a chance at free food, Baz agrees. They end up going the restaurant Cilan worked at before he joined the Lumiose Gym crew and Basile explains his situation over a panini and hot chocolate. Cilan is, of course, sympathetic to Baz’s situation, in no small part since he and his brothers once had to fend for themselves on the streets as well way back when they were children. Basile definitely plays up his sad orphan story though, since he’s hoping that this well-off seeming guy will be able to help him out since he has no other options he can think of.

In the end, Basile is taken in by Cilan and Clemont. Clemont is initially surprised at the sudden new teenage member of the household, but once he understands the situation he’s very welcoming of Baz. Verbena and Cori, both fairly young children at this point, are more intrigued at the newcomer (Cori asks his fathers if this means they’re getting two new siblings.) While Baz settles in, Cilan sets to work trying to track down the teen’s identity, which doesn’t end up coming to anything since it turns out Baz doesn’t have a birth certificate. Meanwhile, Basile is busy going over options for his future child with Clemont, eventually deciding on an open adoption. After looking over profiles of different potential parents, Baz decides on a couple from Galar (names currently not mentioned since they’ll likely be yet-to-be-revealed-canon characters.) Over the next few months, Baz stays in touch with the couple and once the due date finally arrives, they fly down to Kalos to be there for their daughter’s birth.

Basile’s daughter, Marigold, is born on October 5, 3632. He named her after the flower for her birth month. After a couple days in the hospital, Marigold ends up going home with her adoptive parents, and while he’s sad to part with her, Baz knows that her parents will send him regular updates and that he’ll hopefully be able to see her again in the future. And now he can focus on finally being part of a family after so long on his own. Cilan and Clemont formally adopt him and he’s able to start school and catch up on his education, go on a journey, and even meet his long lost half brother. When Marigold is around 5 years old, her parents bring her on vacation to Kalos so she can properly meet her birth father and after that Baz tries to visit her (or arrange for her to visit him) regularly about twice a year. Marigold is aware that Basile is her birth father, but she sees him as more of a cool uncle, which Baz is fine with, since he’s just happy she’s happy, knowing she’s getting a better life than he could have given her. Marigold will likely show up more in the future, since she’s technically my first (or the first?) Gen 8 fankid.

Chili, Cress, and Cilan?

Chili
– My NOTP for them
None, really. Don’t see enough Chili content to have encountered any (romantic) ships I dislike for him.
– My BROTP for them
Well, aside from the obvious of his own brothers, I like to think of him having a close friendship with Anthea and Concordia, more so than his brothers do. This is mostly tied to my hc of the triplets as being the Shadow Triad, hence why Chili knows the sisters well enough to befriend them.
– My OTP for them
Chili/Korrina~ (CadienneShipping)
– My second choice pairing for them
Chili/Burgundy (CandyCornShipping), mainly since it seems to be the popular Chili ship and I think they’re cute together.
– My fluffy pairing for them
Probably Chili/Korrina, I like to headcanon them as a happy couple with little conflict
– My angsty pairing for them
Maybe Chili/Burgundy? In the fankid AU, the brothers move to Kalos and start over so perhaps if Chili and Burgundy had feelings for each other before that they would have to break things off, idk.
– My favorite poly ship for them
None, honestly.
– My weirdest pairing for them
I suppose Chili/Korrina counts.

Cress
– My NOTP for them
Same as with Chili, none. I rarely see Cress ship content, to be honest?
– My BROTP for them
Aside from his brothers, Cress/Siebold. I think they’re a cute ship, but I prefer them as good friends and cooking buddies/rivals.
– My OTP for them
Cress/Jasmine (GingerbreadShipping)
– My second choice pairing for them
This is so embarrassing, but I’ve grown really fond of the dynamic Cress and his OC Team Plasma Admin ex-boyfriend had. (ChancellorShipping)
– My fluffy pairing for them
Definitely Cress/Jasmine – cuteness for days, those two.
– My angsty pairing for them
It’s going to be Cress/Seamus just since they broke up under angsty circumstances and then get some drama with Cicely later on.
– My favorite poly ship for them
Maybe Jasmine/Cress/Seamus.
– My weirdest pairing for them
Cress/OC kind of wins this by default since it came out of nowhere for me.

Cilan
– My NOTP for them
It’s not really a NOTP since I don’t hate seeing the pairing or anything, but I just don’t personally see the appeal of WishfulShipping. It’s a popular enough ship I figured I’d mention it.
– My BROTP for them
As always, aside from his brothers, maybe Cilan/N? I mentioned that I was considering their relationship with Cilan being in the Shadow Triad, but I like to think that he was/is friends with N, as much as N had friends when he was still in Team Plasma.
– My OTP for them
Cilan/Clemont (LemonMeringuePieShipping)
– My second choice pairing for them
Cilan/Burgundy (SommelierShipping)
– My fluffy pairing for them
Cilan/Clemont, this ship is tooth rotting fluff, I hc them as being very supportive of each other
– My angsty pairing for them
Cilan/N (KiraShipping)
– My favorite poly ship for them
Aria/Cilan/Burgundy (SommelierTimeShipping?). Aria/Cilan is probably my third-favorite Cilan pairing and I think Aria and Burgundy could have an interesting dynamic.
– My weirdest pairing for them
Cilan/Clemont is popular in my corner of the fankid fandom since we all dragged each other into this ship but it’s honestly a pretty obscure one. Otherwise, Cilan/N.

[This content is out of date and no longer canon]

…. Well it only took me a couple days to get annoyed with my self imposed schedule, so now rather than have set topics per day, I’ll just ramble about whatever, haha. My friend Sydney at @pkmnomegaverse is sharing her Striation Triplets/Shadow Triad hcs, so I though it might be fun for me to do the same!

The three brothers are not originally from Unova, though they ended up there at some point during their childhood. They also started out with different names than the ones the go by as adults. Cress was known as Lir, Chili was known as Aodh, and Cilan was known as Nuada, though they were never attached to those names. They were orphaned for as long as they could remember and initially lived on the streets before getting involved with some bad people and being taken to Unova. Part of the reason they were endangered is due to the fact that all three are dark mages, which are quite rare (mages in general are rare, but dark mages are rare even among mages). This trait is also what drew Ghetsis to them. He was looking for a team of undercover operatives to act as spies/bodyguards for him, and a trio of dark mage brothers who already had a very close bond was perfect. As a bonus to him, they were young (around 9 years old) and in a very bad situation, which was something he could use to his advantage. Acting as a savior, he managed to get the brothers under his care and used his ‘savior’ status to ensure their loyalty. He also encouraged their codependency, as it meant less of a chance of one of them trying to escape without his brothers. They were trained in martial arts, infiltration, and espionage, as well as honing their magic talents to the point they essentially became one with the shadows.

The three worked as one well-oiled, loyal machine to Ghetsis, but they weren’t entirely devoid of a sense of self. When not on duty, the three enjoyed spending time honing their skills, teasing each other, competing, and pursuing some minor hobbies – in particular cooking, something they had learned early in life and stuck with even up through, both as a practicality (better to know where your meals are coming from) and as a useful skill (food is a good place to hide poison after all). As soon as they were old enough at age 19, Ghetsis assigned them their first (and last) long term deep cover mission. They were to pose as rookie Gym Leaders, with new names and identities, in order to gather information on the League. They had the battling skills and came on good recommendation as Ghetsis was still in decent standing with his former government coworkers. The triplets also had a ‘gimmick’, a secondary occupation or hobby that would help provide draw to the gym and the town they would be leading – cooking, with ingredient-themed names to match. The Restaurant Gym of Striation had been born.

They had a degree of freedom in customizing their presentation at the Gym, and they had the idea to go for a ‘Three Elements’ style rather than focus on training just one type. While the brothers’ hair is naturally white, Cress, Chili, and Cilan’s eyes are naturally blue, red, and green, so Cress proposed they follow a water, fire, and grass theme to match their own looks and new names. It was Chili’s idea to add in the wigs – colored and styled to match their type specialization and working as an extra bit of disguise as a bonus. The even got a blue wig that covered Cress’ missing eye in a way that didn’t draw attention to it like an eye-patch would. In the end, they got way into running the Gym and restaurant, coordinating events, and even helping out at the local trainer school. For a time, they could almost pretend this was their real life and not just an undercover mission Eventually all good things must come to an end, however, and when it came time for Plasma’s grand plan to unfold, the three had to give up their charade and return to their old jobs full time. However, after the death of Ghetsis two years later, they found themselves without a place to go, and their experience living ‘normal lives’ proved invaluable. They headed to Kalos to try and start something new, eventually finding their own paths and settling down and starting families of their own, something they had never even dreamed of before. As a way of saying goodbye to their Plasma days, the brothers took on their Gym Leader names permanently, leaving behind ‘Lir, Aodh, and Nuada’ in their pasts.
