Question regarding Aeon: Did being born in the distortion world have any physical effects on him?

Short answer: yes! Similarly to Brant, who I mentioned previously having some psychic powers related to being born in the Distortion World, Aeon also was born with a degree of sensitivity to certain energies and the like. Because he spent much longer in the DW after he was born than Brant (about 5 years as opposed to a month or two at most), his powers end up more developed, giving him the ability to feel natural energy, similar to aura senses, and distinguish between living things, inanimate objects, things from the DW, etc, which a much greater range than Brant’s senses have. It’s useful in finding things or people when he needs to track them down, which has led to plenty of in-jokes at Galactic Corp. about how you can’t hide from the boss when he needs you for something. (Though Aeon does sort of resent those jokes and those in their vein since he tries hard to be approachable and not intimidating… most of the time.)

Longer answer: it’s complicated. Beyond being born with psychic powers, Aeon’s childhood in the DW affected him deeply as it was such a crucial part of his development spent in such an isolated and alien environment. Until Dawn rescued him and Cyrus, Aeon had never met another living human apart from his father, and had no exposure to most aspects of the regular world. It was incredibly difficult for him to adjust to how busy and chaotic the “world outside” is compared to the DW and he experiences sensory and social difficulties into adulthood. He’s often frustrated by this and feels torn between relying on his family and few friends for support and keeping to himself more, as he’s both a withdrawn, introverted person by nature and someone who yearns for companionship. This is a big reason why his and Heron’s romantic relationship (along with his friendships with Nell and Verena) is/are so slow burn, but ultimately rewarding as they unfold (to me as the one developing them and being proud of my children haha). He’s definitely very similar to Cyrus in the whole ‘mechanical/science-inclined with difficulties processing and expressing their own emotions’ sense, but in his own unique way due to his backstory. Under his cold outer appearance he has a very curious and gentle personality and also quite the amazing deadpan sense of humor (which Heron loves haha), that not many people know about.

Fankid Week Day 3: Relationships Some soft Aeon/Heron since they’ve been living rent-free for a while now and Sinnoh’s been on my brain with all the new content/games the region’s been getting.

Fankidtober Day 2! This time the RNG gave me Heron, my Melody/Todd Snap son! Growing up on Shamouti Island led to Heron developing a love for myths, legends, and ancient ruins, but he’s also inherited his father’s wanderlust so he sets out from home on … Continue reading
