Like a year ago I started making a big family tree for this verse after Pkmn Down the Line did some (they’re on twitter and used to be on the profiles if anyone’s curious!), then promptly got distracted by something else. I got the urge to return to it, realized I now hated how it looked, so just decided to start from scratch!
To start out, I kept it simple with just the main four kids and their parents and siblings, but I definitely plan on doing more when I have the time here and there!
I think they’re pretty straight forward, the only thing I’ll mention is that the purple line means the kid (in this case Emery and Bal) is adopted.

How quickly did/will they fall in love? – After they parted ways in Sinnoh, Ash & Paul crossed paths a few times in the following years that led to a somewhat slowburn friendship growing. They only end up developing romantic feelings around 10ish years later when Ash stays in Sinnoh for a while and they end up interacting a lot more, but from there things move on the quicker side.
How was their first kiss? – Somewhat hesitant and awkward, initiated by Ash after their first formal date. Paul kissed him back more firmly and then declared the kiss “adequate” which set Ash off laughing. Overall very sweet.
Wedding:
Who proposed? – Paul (with help from Emery)
Who are {Paul’s} groom’s party? – Dawn, Lucas, Barry, Reggie, Hilda (haven’t talked about it yet on here but Paul/Hilda traveled together for 2 years in between the two BW games and end up very good friends. Conway in particular was Not Impressed (in a non-serious way) that Paul passed over any of his E4 coworkers in favor of Hilda lol)

(Goh has primary custody of Jay, but Jay will stay with Ash & Paul over school holidays fairly often.)
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? – Originally Paul, but when he goes back to work, Ash takes over since he’s working from home rather than commuting like his husband.

Who does the grocery shopping? – Paul (Ash will sometimes go with a list Paul made but he always ends up buying random snacks and desserts not on the list just since he thought they looked interesting/good.)
How often do they bake desserts? – Paul enjoys baking desserts on weekends, usually every other week or so. He’ll post a poll in the family group chat (yes they have one) on what he should make the week before he plans on baking.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? – When Paul cooks (which is usually) they’re a fairly healthy more salad-eater family. When it’s just Ash and the kids for dinner, expect junk food, pizza take out, etc.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? – Ash, with reservations at a fancy restaurant.

Who cleans the room? – They have the cleaning duties split up in between them by room (Paul handles the kitchen, living room, etc. Ash handles the bathroom, their bedroom, etc)
Who is really against chores? – Ash, but he’s not really against them he’ll just put them off sometimes.
Who cleans up after the pokémon? – Both, though Ash especially likes taking care of/spoiling Paul’s pokémon along with his own.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? – Ash
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? – Neither, but also anytime guests are over it’s always very casual so not much to stress over.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? – Paul
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? – Ash

How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? – They’ll decorate for the bigger holidays, especially since Ash is a big fan of things being festive.
What are their goals for the relationship? – Support each other in all aspects of their lives. Be open and communicate with each other, and work together/be a team when it comes to parenting, as pokémon trainers, and everything else. Provide a loving and supportive home and upbringing to their children.

Paul looked up from his laptop at the sound of tearing paper, glancing down at the carpet where Emery was playing. Or rather, had been playing, as she was now making her way over to the couch and hoisting herself up to sit beside her father.
“What do you have there?”, he inquired, moving over to make room for the small girl.
“I drew a picture!”, she proclaimed proudly, shoving said drawing in Paul’s face. Setting aside his laptop, Paul took the paper from his daughter’s outstretched hands and made a show of adjusting his reading glasses to peer intently at her artwork, not surprised that it was little more than colorful scribbles given her age.
After looking over the picture, Paul set it down on his lap and turned to Emery, “Can the artist describe her masterpiece, perhaps?”
Emery’s eyes lit up as she scooched closer to her father, “Um! This one is you, da,” she started, eagerly pointing to an oblong black and purple shape, “And, and this one is me!”, indicating a smaller, blue and purple scribble.
“And what about these here?” Paul asked, gesturing at the rest of the page.
“Oh! That one’s Torterra, and this one is Ele-, um, Electivire, and here’s…”, she continued, carefully naming each of Paul’s pokémon as she pointed out the brightly colored scribbles. When she was done, she looked up at her father, beaming, “It’s our family!”
It took Paul a second to gather his thoughts, unsure how to adequately express just how touched he was by his daughter’s efforts. After a moment he reached down to ruffle her hair, smiling.
“I think this one deserves a place of honor on the fridge, don’t you?”

He has Ash’s black hair and ‘z’ markings on his cheeks along with Paul’s gray eyes and hair texture. His hair tends to stick up a bit more than Paul’s though, being prone to bedhead if he doesn’t carefully brush it in the morning and before he goes to sleep.
Like Ash, he’s a light mage, specifically the kind with the ability to use aura. He has trouble controlling his magic, however, either not being able to produce anything at all or going overboard and losing control. He’s afraid of accidentally hurting someone, so he tries to not use his magic that much, even if that’s not very healthy for a mage to do.
He’s on the shy side, disliking direct confrontation and being easily embarrassed in social situations. As a child, he tended to let his much more outgoing older sister handle any social interactions he was too shy to confront himself. He wishes he was more outgoing like his dad or sister, or at least had thicker skin like his father.
He doesn’t much care for being a trainer, much preferring contests to Gym Battles, but for a long time he was afraid to tell his family he wanted to be a coordinator since he thought they would disapprove, being all strong trainers themselves. After a bit of drama and some help from Uncle Reggie, he’s able to tell his parents his dreams and, of course, they support him wholly.
His starter is a Snorunt that was given to him as an egg by Reggie. The Snorunt is actually the child of Paul’s Froslass. Paul had noticed his son’s interest in the elegant pokémon (both his own and Dawn’s Froslass), so he asks for his brother’s help in arranging a way to give Morgan a Snorunt egg as his starter.
Morgan is very close with Ash’s Pikachu (who calls him ‘Pichupi’) often going to his dad’s partner pokémon for support and comfort when he felt too nervous to talk to his parents or sister about whatever was bothering him. Pikachu is also very good at picking up on Morgan’s anxiety and will go cuddle up to him if he notices his ‘nephew’ getting too nervous.
While he tended to dress in plain, practical outfits when he was younger, as he grows more confident and wants to improve his coordinating skills, Morgan decides to try and be bolder in his fashion sense. He ends up going to Emery for advice, since she’s got the flashiest fashion sense of anyone he knows. This results in Morgan developing somewhat of a ‘goth/punk lite’ style in his mid-teens, wearing a lot of fitted and distressed dark clothing, getting his ears pierced, and wearing dark eyeliner and nail polish. He ends up liking this ‘rebellious but not too rebellious’ look quite a bit (though Paul is still baffled by his two goth children.)
Despite his initial concerns about his parents not approving of him being a coordinator, Ash and Paul are very supportive of Morgan’s choice in path. Ash in particular is his son’s most vocal and enthusiastic fan, attending every contest that he can and recording the one’s he can’t to preserve them forever. He’s the parent sitting front and center cheering as loud as he can for his son to win (while Morgan is turning bright red with embarrassment on stage.) Paul is more subdued in his support (often having to tug his husband back down to his seat when he keeps jumping up during Morgan’s contests), but he does his best to help his son in his own way. While he’s not a coordinator himself, he often offers Morgan advice from a technical standpoint for the battle portion of the contests and won’t tolerate anyone trash talking his son in any way (a glare is usually enough to shut up anyone foolish enough to try in his presence.)
Morgan likes to train ‘beautiful’ pokémon, usually having a preference for elegant and graceful ones. He’s a very supportive trainer and does best to encourage his team’s full potential, but sometimes his own self-doubt weighs them all down. Part of his character arc as a coordinator is learning how being confident in himself helps him be more confident in his team and how to help let them support him as much as he supports them.
His favorite food is ice cream, but since he lives in chilly Sinnoh, he gets brain freeze half the time he eats. He always gets upset when he gets brain freeze… but that doesn’t stop him from buying ice cream in the middle of winter anyway. He just can’t resist it. He also bites into his ice cream bars and then chews the ice cream without even hesitating, which is absolutely unsettling to watch.
Ash My NOTP for them None. I’ve seen potential in all the Ash ships I’ve seen, really. My BROTP for them Ash/Misty. I know PokeShipping is popular, but I prefer them as good friends rather than romantically involved – basically the same as my stance on WishfulShipping. My OTP for them Ash/Dawn (PearlShipping). I think this one is mainly due to how Sinnoh was when I was most into and consistently watching the anime. This is for anime!Dawn, though, I don’t ship my version of game!Dawn with Ash at all. My second choice pairing for them Ash/Paul (ComaShipping). Sinnoh bias strikes again, what can I say? I like the gruff antisocial guy/cheerful friendly guy dynamic. A tried and true classic. My fluffy pairing for them Ash/Dawn. My angsty pairing for them ComaShipping can be angsty I guess….. but really I can’t think of any ships I’ve seriously thought about for Ash that would be angsty. My favorite poly ship for them Paul/Ash/Dawn (ComakariShipping). It’s just combining my two favorite Ash ships with my two favorite anime!Dawn ships and my two favorite Paul ships. Heck, if I were to do an animeverse fankid AU this might be the canon pairing, who knows? My weirdest pairing for them I think both Pearl and Coma shipping are fairly popular, so none. I haven’t really seen a whole ton of the anime, so my ships for Ash (and other anime exclusive characters) tend to be fairly limited.
Iris My NOTP for them As I mentioned in the ask for Cilan, I’m not a huge fan of Iris/Cilan (WishfulShipping), but it’s not a ship I hate or anything, I just don’t ship it. My BROTP for them Iris/Cilan. I can’t believe I forgot to mention it on the ask for Cilan but even though my AU is primarily gameverse and Cilan is part of the Shadow Triad and he and Iris never travel together…. I still hc them as being close friends (Iris is one of my Cilan’s only close friends, actually). I just feel like they (at least the interpretations of them in my AU) would have a really good dynamic. My OTP for them Iris/Benga (DragonHeartShipping). My second choice pairing for them Iris/Zinnia (PrecessionShipping). This is more of a ‘want to explore the dynamic’ ship then a serious one, but I think they’d have interesting interactions. I’ve headcanoned Looker to be game!Dawn’s dad since before SM came out, and the idea of Looker dating someone only a few years older than his daughter (not to mention I strongly ship him and Johanna already) is just kind of squicky to me.
