Any Reggie/Maylene and Zoey/Candice headcanons?

CurtainShipping – Reggie/Maylene HCs

  • While both of them were born in Veilstone, in this ‘verse, Reggie’s family moved from there to Lilycove, Hoenn when Reggie was around 7 years old. He only returned to Sinnoh during his pokémon journey, traveling through the region to collect Gym Badges. Having previously made a name for himself as one of the youngest trainers to ever collect 8 Kanto and 8 Johto badges in the same League season, Reggie challenged himself to earn his 8 Sinnoh badges in only half a year. He was able to accomplish this, but the challenge left him and his pokémon exhausted, so in order to rest and have a home base of operations to train for the upcoming 3008 Lily of the Valley conference, Reggie decided to settle down in his old home city, renting an apartment in Veilstone.
  • At this point, Maylene was still on her own pokémon journey, so the two didn’t cross paths until after Reggie had decided to become a Pokémon Breeder. While she was training to take over the Gym, Maylene often visited Reggie for help with her technique and advice on raising her pokémon, aware of Reggie’s past as a highly regarded trainer. As they worked together, friendship bloomed between them and they found out they had more in common than they initially thought. Even after Maylene became the Gym Leader, they still often trained together and grew closer, eventually starting a romantic relationship.
  • Their first son, Owen, was actually born before they were married (though they were engaged). Candice often teases the couple for being so eager to start a family, especially after talking about wanting kids since they were dating, while Paul just rolls his eyes and says he wasn’t surprised in the slightest, since he knows full well that Reggie has an impatient side when it comes to certain things.
  • After having Owen in 3015 and marrying in 3016, Reggie and Maylene go on to have two more children, their only daughter Lynette in 3018, and their second son Lionel “Leo” in 3024. Reggie continues to run his Daycare in Veilstone, while Maylene held her Gym Leader position until 2030, when she was able to earn a spot in the Sinnoh Elite Four following Conway stepping down after accepting an offer to become a professor at Hearthome University. The Veilstone Gym was succeeded by Maylene’s apprentice, the Steel-type specialist Vera, daughter of Lucian and Dahlia.
  • Reggie loves to cook and Maylene loves to eat, so they’re one of those ideal couples in that sense. Every morning Reggie makes her a special extra large and extra protein filled bento for her to take to work with her, along with customized cute bentos for their kids to take to school. When the kids eventually go on their journeys, he often fusses over if they’re eating enough, always making a huge meal for them whenever they visit home.

SnowpointShipping – Candice/Zoey HCs

  • While they’re childhood friends and have known each other most of their lives, it takes a little while for Candice and Zoey to realize their feelings for each other. Both had worries that admitting their growing romantic feelings would jeopardize their friendship, but eventually Dawn got fed up seeing her friend dancing around her feelings and convinced Zoey to just ask Candice out. They’ve been together ever since!
  • Children was something they had different opinions on from the beginning, Candice liking the idea while Zoey initially was hesitant. After Maylene’s first child Owen was born, however, Candice got a bit of baby fever, fawning over him and always offering to babysit for her friend. Spending time with baby Owen and seeing how happy he made Candice led Zoey to warm up to the idea of having her own child one day. However… when she mentioned to Candice she’d enjoy having one kid in the future, she didn’t expect the baby to arrive just a year later, nor for it to be twins! Neither did Candice, but despite being a bit overwhelmed at times, both of them adore Holly and Ivy to bits (though Zoey had to steer Candice away from some more eccentric winter-themed twin names).
  • Candice remained as the Snowpoint Gym Leader for a few years, but eventually was offered the chance to compete for an E4 spot. She ended up being super torn over whether to accept or not, since she wasn’t sure who would be a good candidate to take over her gym, not to mention she wouldn’t have as much time to teach at the trainer school if she accepted, a job she especially loved now that Zoey had joined her as a teacher (though for coordinators rather than trainers). As an E4 Candice would be away from home more, wouldn’t be able to work alongside her wife or see their daughters as much, and on top of it all would need to find someone to take over her gym. It seemed like an easy decision, but she was surprised when Zoey got upset with her for wanting to refuse. Zoey pointed out that the two of them had promised to support each other in their dreams – it was her duty to help Candice reach her full potential as a trainer, and sometimes reaching that means accepting changes. With Zoey’s support, Candice decided to ultimately accept the offer.
  • However, she still had to find a successor for the Gym, which led to one of her and Zoey’s biggest arguments. After putting out the word that she was looking for Gym Leader candidates, Candice got a lot of applicants, but none of them seemed to be the right fit. She went through dozens of applications, battles and interviews, but turned down every one. It seemed like nobody would meet her standards, until a very unusual candidate caught her eye. Following the defeat of Team Galactic, Saturn managed to avoid a harsher punishment due to his lack of involvement at Spear Pillar. While he initially wanted to keep running the organization and bring it in a new direction, he realized he wasn’t sure what he wanted for Galactic now that Cyrus was gone, nor was he very popular in Veilstone anymore. He moved to Snowpoint to get away from prying eyes, working odd jobs like logistics for shipping companies and the like. Candice knew from the incident years ago that he was a strong trainer and leader, he seemed to have turned over a new leaf and he needed a new direction in life – Saturn was the perfect candidate for Gym Leader! Zoey, however, very much disagreed. Saturn may be living peacefully now, but that doesn’t change the fact he was one of Cyrus’s most enthusiastic supporters – is giving him the power of a Gym Leader really a safe decision? Not to mention the rumors that his roommate(?)/husband(?) used to be a Team Rocket member. Candice was stubborn, insisting it was her duty as both a future E4 and a teacher to help trainers in need reach their full potential, since wasn’t this a similar situation to her own? She needed a push from Zoey to follow her dreams, now she’ll be the same push to Saturn.
  • In the end, Saturn did become the new Gym Leader and while Zoey remained suspicious of him, he did his job well and proved himself a worthy candidate, even eventually befriending her family after visiting Candice for Gym Leader advice from time to time. While Zoey never fully warms up to him, she respects his and Candice’s friendship and how well he’s looking after the Gym and city.
  • Because Dawn’s daughter, Tanith, is doing both Contests and Gym Battles, Zoey and Candice both end up as mentors to her. Despite her earlier misgivings on people doing both, Zoey is fully supportive of Tanith’s goals, giving her advice and helping her practice appeals whenever they’re able to meet up.

Finally while it was mentioned a bit in each set of hcs, these two families are very close! Candice and Maylene are close friends so their families end up the same, despite the distance between Veilstone and Snowpoint. Owen, Holly and Ivy are fairly close in age and often played together (or Ivy would get bossy with Owen and Holly would try to be peacemaker), while Lynette really admires Ivy as a trainer and sees her as a mentor.

CurtainShipping fankid chibi heads! I was struck with a desire to design these dweebs so. Have some (tentative) designs! Owen (Top Left – Oldest Sibling): Gentle, kind, a friend to all. Very soft. Tall like Reggie and easy to get along with like Reggie. The family … Continue reading

Part three of this ask.

10 Facts About Morgan Rozanov

  1. He has Ash’s black hair and ‘z’ markings on his cheeks along with Paul’s gray eyes and hair texture. His hair tends to stick up a bit more than Paul’s though, being prone to bedhead if he doesn’t carefully brush it in the morning and before he goes to sleep.
  2. Like Ash, he’s a light mage, specifically the kind with the ability to use aura. He has trouble controlling his magic, however, either not being able to produce anything at all or going overboard and losing control. He’s afraid of accidentally hurting someone, so he tries to not use his magic that much, even if that’s not very healthy for a mage to do.
  3. He’s on the shy side, disliking direct confrontation and being easily embarrassed in social situations. As a child, he tended to let his much more outgoing older sister handle any social interactions he was too shy to confront himself. He wishes he was more outgoing like his dad or sister, or at least had thicker skin like his father.
  4. He doesn’t much care for being a trainer, much preferring contests to Gym Battles, but for a long time he was afraid to tell his family he wanted to be a coordinator since he thought they would disapprove, being all strong trainers themselves. After a bit of drama and some help from Uncle Reggie, he’s able to tell his parents his dreams and, of course, they support him wholly.
  5. His starter is a Snorunt that was given to him as an egg by Reggie. The Snorunt is actually the child of Paul’s Froslass. Paul had noticed his son’s interest in the elegant pokémon (both his own and Dawn’s Froslass), so he asks for his brother’s help in arranging a way to give Morgan a Snorunt egg as his starter.
  6. Morgan is very close with Ash’s Pikachu (who calls him ‘Pichupi’) often going to his dad’s partner pokémon for support and comfort when he felt too nervous to talk to his parents or sister about whatever was bothering him. Pikachu is also very good at picking up on Morgan’s anxiety and will go cuddle up to him if he notices his ‘nephew’ getting too nervous.
  7. While he tended to dress in plain, practical outfits when he was younger, as he grows more confident and wants to improve his coordinating skills, Morgan decides to try and be bolder in his fashion sense. He ends up going to Emery for advice, since she’s got the flashiest fashion sense of anyone he knows. This results in Morgan developing somewhat of a ‘goth/punk lite’ style in his mid-teens, wearing a lot of fitted and distressed dark clothing, getting his ears pierced, and wearing dark eyeliner and nail polish. He ends up liking this ‘rebellious but not too rebellious’ look quite a bit (though Paul is still baffled by his two goth children.)
  8. Despite his initial concerns about his parents not approving of him being a coordinator, Ash and Paul are very supportive of Morgan’s choice in path. Ash in particular is his son’s most vocal and enthusiastic fan, attending every contest that he can and recording the one’s he can’t to preserve them forever. He’s the parent sitting front and center cheering as loud as he can for his son to win (while Morgan is turning bright red with embarrassment on stage.) Paul is more subdued in his support (often having to tug his husband back down to his seat when he keeps jumping up during Morgan’s contests), but he does his best to help his son in his own way. While he’s not a coordinator himself, he often offers Morgan advice from a technical standpoint for the battle portion of the contests and won’t tolerate anyone trash talking his son in any way (a glare is usually enough to shut up anyone foolish enough to try in his presence.)
  9. Morgan likes to train ‘beautiful’ pokémon, usually having a preference for elegant and graceful ones. He’s a very supportive trainer and does best to encourage his team’s full potential, but sometimes his own self-doubt weighs them all down. Part of his character arc as a coordinator is learning how being confident in himself helps him be more confident in his team and how to help let them support him as much as he supports them.
  10. His favorite food is ice cream, but since he lives in chilly Sinnoh, he gets brain freeze half the time he eats. He always gets upset when he gets brain freeze… but that doesn’t stop him from buying ice cream in the middle of winter anyway. He just can’t resist it. He also bites into his ice cream bars and then chews the ice cream without even hesitating, which is absolutely unsettling to watch.
