Luna: We should stop worrying about Carmen and let her lead her own life.

Rosemary:

Luna:

Rosemary: Do you want to follow her, or should I?

Luna: Let’s both do it.

Gingerbreadshipping!! :D (I <3 the ship name)

How they first met: They first met when Jasmine was on a trip to Kalos to visit a botany convention. At the time she was studying herbal medicine, so she was interested in learning more about plants there. She was quite overwhelmed by both the crowds and being in a foreign country. Cress was at the same convention to learn more about cooking ingredients (at this point he and his brothers were living in Kalos) and was also feeling a bit overwhelmed by the crowds, so when he saw Jasmine looking lost he suggested they team up so that the event was less intimidating for the both of them. They became quite good friends over that weekend and exchanged numbers when it was over and Jasmine had to return back to Johto.
Where their first date was: A few years after they first met, Jasmine came to further her study of medicine in Kalos for a few months, a decision in no small part influenced by her continued correspondence with Cress. The two, at this point, had had quite a bit of romantic tension in their messages and the last time they had met up when Cress visited Johto. However, this trip to Kalos by Jasmine was their first time going on a proper date. Chili and Cilan both made plans to be out of the apartment for the evening and Cress invited Jasmine over for a home cooked meal. It was very romantic and both had a really good time just talking to each other and enjoying some good food.
When they had their first kiss: They had their first kiss on the first date. Jasmine insisted on helping Cress clean up after the meal and as they did the dishes together, she realized how domestic the whole scene felt and just how right it felt as well. Without really thinking, she shuffled over to Cress and leaned against him, when he leaned back, she stood on her tiptoes and they kissed.
Who cooks: Cress, obviously, since he’s the professional chef of the couple. He likes to experiment with flavors and techniques and often tries out new recipes on his family, which can lead to hit-or-miss meals sometimes. For the most part though, all his new dishes are well-received and Jasmine and their kids are always excited to see what Cress can come up with.
Who proposed: Cress proposed to Jasmine! The two had been dating for a while and Cress had moved to Johto to live with Jasmine about a year earlier. He felt like his life and hers were in the place where marriage seemed right. He had found a job at a restaurant in Olivine and had plans to open up his own place eventually and Jasmine had started a herbal medicine clinic on the side of being Gym Leader. The proposal was nothing public or showy; Cress made an extra nice meal for him and his girlfriend, then brought out dessert, a small orange sponge cake (Jasmine’s favorite) with ‘Will you marry me?’ written in icing across the top. Jasmine was so touched that she didn’t even want to eat the cake at first and spoil the message. After a bit of happy tears they did end up eating the cake, and to this day eating orange sponge cake makes Jasmine extra happy.
The dominate one: Cress. In public, both he and Jasmine seem quite mild-mannered and quiet, though while that’s fairly close to Jasmine’s true personality, behind closed doors, Cress can be very dominant and bold. Probably thanks to his past as a member of the Shadow Triad, he’s not afraid to take control and Jasmine quite likes that side of her husband, even if admitting so makes her blush.
Their favorite pastime together: One of their favorite family activities for the weekend or holidays is going to the beach. It doesn’t matter what season it is, they’ll go at least once a month. Cress enjoys swimming when the weather permits, otherwise he likes to explore tidepools and the like. Jasmine isn’t as much of a swimmer, but she enjoys relaxing by the water with a good book or watching her husband and kids play in the water. She also likes to walk along the beach and find shells, sea glass, and other pretty things washed up by the waves. She keeps them all in glass jars around the house and sometimes will craft with them. An amusing incident (or incidents as it happened more than once) is the time Cress found a Clauncher in a tidepool, very lost and far from home. Cress wanted to cook it, since Clauncher is a delicacy while Jasmine was horrified he would even think of doing such a thing and insisted they take in to her clinic until they could find a way to get back to its natural habitat.
Who kissed who first: Jasmine kissed Cress!
Who is the flirt: Cress, though usually not in public. When in private, however, he loves to fluster Jasmine with flirty comments.
Who is the romantic: Both of them are about equally romantic, but in different ways. Cress’ idea of romance is usually food-related, while Jasmine prefers the type of thing found in her favorite romance-novels – rose petals everywhere, candles, hot tubs, etc.
Who wakes up first: Old habits die hard and Cress is still a very early riser since it was drilled into him during his Plasma days. All the same, he has to get up early for work anyway, so he doesn’t mind all that much. Jasmine prefers to sleep in a little bit, though still gets up pretty early. Of course, their kids did not all inherit that ‘morning person’ trait, so when the triplets are at home Jasmine and Cress try to keep quiet in the mornings so as not to disturb them until it’s time for their wakeup call.
Who comforts who the most: Jasmine is somewhat prone to anxiety, so Cress does his best to make sure she’s never too nervous about something and helps her calm down if she gets overwhelmed with nerves. However, Cress still has lasting issues from his old life in Team Plasma and before that, which can manifest in nightmares or panic attacks. Whenever he’s upset, Jasmine does her best to make sure he knows he’s safe and that she’s there for him, using the tips she learned specifically to make her husband feel most at ease and comfortable whenever his past comes back to haunt him. The two really do end up comforting each other quite often.
The cuddler: Somewhat related to the above answer, both Cress and Jasmine are quite the cuddlers. They enjoy physical contact with each other and it helps them feel calm. They’re not very publicly affectionate, but they will often hold hands or Jasmine will be on Cress’ arm when they’re out and about. At home, they are often found cuddling – Jasmine especially likes to sit in Cress’ lap so they can hold each other.
The big spoon: Cress is quite a bit taller than Jasmine, so he typically fills this role. Often, Jasmine will also sleep facing him, so that she can hold him as well.

For the question thing, Carmen with 4, 7, 18, 27, 32?

4. What is their relationship with their parents? What’s a good and bad memory with them? Did they know both parents?

Carmen was old enough when her birth parents died to have some memories of them, but the memories are bittersweet. Her parents were pokémon researchers who were killed by wild pokémon in the field, so a lot of her memories of them are of them taking her out on trips to see wild pokémon. She treasures the memory of spending time with them, but the memories also remind her of how they died.
As for Whitney and Ethan, Carmen has a great relationship with them – especially with Ethan. Due to the nature of her parents’ death, Carmen was initially very frightened of pokémon, but Ethan helped her slowly grow accustomed to them by letting her stay with him while he worked at the Daycare. Over time, Carmen grew attached to all the pokémon that stayed there, eventually growing to love them. She now wants to be a researcher like her parents and work to find ways to help people coexist better with pokémon so that less people will get hurt like them. She still loves to help out at the Daycare, essentially working their part time while she goes to school to study environmental science and biology.
While she is closer with Ethan, Carmen also loves to spend time with Whitney. Whitney was the one who gave Carmen her starter pokémon, Edna the teddiursa and helped her decide whether or not she wanted to be a trainer. After she got more used to being around pokémon, Carmen loved to spend time at the Goldenrod Gym with Whitney, especially watching the battles. Whitney and Carmen also love to just hang out together, like having a ‘girls night’ where they watch a movie, paint each other’s nails, do face masks, and just chat about what’s going on in their lives. In general, when Carmen has a question related to raising pokémon, she asks Ethan, but if it’s a question about being a trainer or general life problems, she’ll ask Whitney.

7. Did they have lots of friends as a child? Did they keep any of their childhood friends into adulthood?

Carmen had a small but tight-knit group of friends as a child that she still keeps in touch with. In particular, she’s very close with Rosemary (one of Cress and Jasmine’s triplets) and Luna (Bugsy and Aaron’s daughter). These three formed a very close friend group as children. There was some drama when Luna suddenly decided to move to Kanto, but the three still keep in touch with messaging and video chats, and Luna visits home fairly frequently. With Luna living further away, Carmen mainly hangs out with Rosemary now, but she’s also tentatively befriended Sage, since she admires him for his relation to two generations of Professor Oak’s, but right now it’s more of a fangirl-type deal than an actual friendship.

18. What’s their favourite genre of: books, music, tv shows, films, video games and anything else?

Carmen’s favorite genres are nonfiction – especially nature documentaries and books, and mystery. She loves watching nature documentaries in particular and all the ones she’s seen has inspired her to travel the world one day. She loves mystery novels since she likes to solve problems, being a very logical sort of person. She always tries to figure out the solution to the mystery before she finishes reading, doing the same thing with mystery movies as well. In fact, she has a bit of a bad habit of making predictions while watching movies and, since she tends to be good at solving puzzles, often gets them right, much to the annoyance of the people watching with her. As for music, she likes a wide range of genres depending on what she’s doing. For studying, she always listens to classical, for working out, she loves upbeat modern pop music, and for just hanging out, she prefers indie music – especially if it has acoustic guitar in it. She tried learning how to play when she was younger but it never stuck, so now she settles to listening to the instrument. Carmen doesn’t really play video games, but she does have a few puzzle games on her phone she enjoys when she has spare time or is waiting for something. Rosemary keeps trying to get her to play games like Ace Attorney though, since she’s convinced Carmen would love mystery-solving games like that.

27. What makes them sad? Do they cry regularly? Do they cry openly or hide it? What are they like they are sad?

Though it’s been about 10 years since her parents died, Carmen still has moments where she’s hit by grief. Often, she’ll find herself reading something that she thinks her father would have liked, or hear a song her mother would have liked and the realization she can’t share it with them just hits her all at once. When she’s at home, she’ll tend to shut herself in her room when she’s feeling upset and cry to herself, usually putting on music or a tv show to try and distract herself. Ethan and Whitney always try to cheer her up while also giving her space – bringing her herbal tea or a hot meal or just letting her know that they’re there if she wants to talk. Carmen does sometimes just vent all her sadness with her adoptive parents as well, being hugged and just being able to say all the things bothering her. When she’s not at home, Carmen will usually call her parents or one of her friends, just to have someone there. These moments are less frequent as time passes, but she still gets sad occasionally, so knowing that her friends and family are there for her makes all the difference.

32. What do they dress like? What sorta shops do they buy clothes from? Do they wear the fashion that they like? What do they wear to sleep? Do they wear makeup? What’s their hair like?

Carmen likes clothes with fun patterns on them that are also practical and comfortable for travelling. She usually wears patterned cardigans over plain t-shirts with jeans and comfortable sneakers or boots. When it comes to buying clothes, she likes to shop with Whitney, and they go to a variety of stores, from modern fashion to second hand vintage shops. Carmen likes to look both cute and professional with her wardrobe. She tends to wear matching pajama sets to bed – something that Rosemary teases her endlessly about, but Carmen is steadfast in her opinion that matching jammies are adorable. As for hair and makeup, Carmen likes to wear her hair loose with a headband keeping it back, but will put it up into a ponytail if it gets in the way. She wears a bit of makeup, foundation, mascara, and lipgloss mainly, since, while she likes wearing makeup, she hates taking forever to get ready in the morning.

In honor of it being the Asagi triplet’s birthdays (either today or yesterday depending on your timezone), I’ll share some headcanons about their family!

Cress works at the Olivine Café. He loves the chance to get to cook for a living since it’s a legit passion of his, and working at a tavern in a port town lets him meet all sorts of interesting people and hear some good gossip. Most people know him as the ‘Gym Leader’s Husband’ rather than any other distinction which is just fine by him. He does get homesick for his brothers in far off Kalos once and a while, and tries to take regular trips to meet up with them (or they come to him).

Jasmine continues her work as Gym Leader and has grown a lot more confident over the years. Frustrated at being unable to help Amphy when he got sick, she decides to start studying pokémon medicine, visiting Cianwood frequently to talk with the herbalist there and staying up late taking online courses. Over time, she builds a reputation of being able to deal with the more unusual illnesses and injuries that pokémon may get. As they are her specialty, she’s especially known for treating even the most stubborn steel types.

Parsley was always a wild child, as opposed to his more subdued identical brother and conniving but anxious sister. In the dynamic of the three, Parsley was the doer in their plans. He never settles on one type he likes, choosing to raise a diverse team, but when he inherits the gym, he plans on sticking to steel types like his mother. He has this goal to swim to Cianwood City after Rosemary dared him that he couldn’t do it. He has yet to make all the way there without stopping on a shoal to catch his breath, but he dreams to one day. He’s probably the most athletic of the triplets and can often be seen zooming around Olivine on his bike doing errands for people or running late for some appointment or another.

Rosemary is the conspiracy fiend, the one who loves spooky stories and hidden agendas. Part of this comes from her naturally anxious and suspicious nature and part of it was born of curiosity about her father’s mysterious past. She collects pretty much anything relating to conspiracy theories – books, magazines, she even has a tsuchinoko plush toy which is one of her comfort items. She’s also the one to focus on training water types like her father. As a child, Rosemary loved standing at the docks and watching the ships come into port, or collecting seashells on the beach. This love of the sea translated to a love of water types. Rosemary is a trained sailor as well and has her own sailboat, a Sunfish named ‘Tangerine.’

Thyme is probably the quietest of the triplets and has a habit of fading into the background. Unlike his siblings, he has a distinct interest in exploring his dark mage heritage, leading him to train mainly ghost types. He finds that spirits are often lonely and confused and, due to his highly empathetic nature, determined that he wanted to find a way to fulfill their wishes. After spending some time with the Hasumi clan in Ecruteak City, Thyme decides to open a private practice as a Medium, helping people with their spiritual problems and helping ghosts at the same time. He later travels the world to meet more kinds of spirits and comes back from this journey with a veritable menagerie of spirits trailing behind him. The Asagi household is now perhaps one of the most haunted locations in Johto outside of the Hasumi compound.

As a family in general, they are fairly quiet for the most part. Cress and Jasmine are both pretty soft-spoken and even Parsley isn’t all that wild compared to most people, he just stands out among his family as being rambunctious. With Cress being a chef, there are frequently big family meals. Often Rosemary helps out as well. She’s quite the skilled cook herself, though her brothers are rather hopeless at it. There’s often a decent amount of good natured bickering between the triplets while their parents exchange a knowing smile over the heads of their bantering children. As a couple, Cress and Jasmine are the type to stay quite cheesily romantic even years into their marriage. They often go on dates, and Cress will buy flowers on his way home from work to surprise his wife with. They’re not super publicly affectionate, but everyone in Olivine knows how in love they are by the little things they do for each other. Their family seems to have a shared trait of being hopeless romantics and cheesy romcoms and soaps are a household staple on weekend ‘TV Nights’.
