Gavin: 5, 20, 28?

5. Does your OC have a role model or someone they idolize? How would they react to meeting them?
Gavin is a huge fan of Professor Sycamore’s work! He met the professor once when he was a child and that’s what inspired the idolization. Sycamore was in Sinnoh for a research conference and stopped by Lucas and Barry’s house to chat with the Sinnoh Professor before they went to the day’s meetings, so Gavin had the chance to sneak into the conversation a bit and pepper the visiting professor with questions about Kalos pokémon and his research. Sycamore was impressed enough with Gavin’s curiosity that he promised him he’d help get him a Key Stone if he was interested down the line. Ever since that day, Gavin has dedicated himself to becoming a good researcher, hoping that Sycamore will uphold his promise. He’s become so dedicated, in fact, that he actually focuses his studies on form changes in pokémon, similar to Sycamore’s work, though Gavin studies are not just limited to Mega Evolution, but also how pokémon’s looks and abilities change due to regional variations, weather changes, and the like. When (and it’s when, not if) he meets Sycamore again, he’s definitely planning on walking away with a Key Stone and the ability to finally study Mega Evolution hands on.

20. Your OC overhears someone talking smack about one of their friends. Do they come to their defense or get involved in any way?

Gavin likes to talk big about how he’d beat up anyone who says rude things about his friends, but in truth he’s too scared of getting insulted or beat up himself to directly do anything. His actual reaction would just be to run and tell whoever was being insulted about who was trash talking them and what they said. He’d then sit back and see what happens – if his friend does anything in retaliation or not. He denies it, but Gavin adores seeing drama unfold, as long as he doesn’t have to get involved (though he usually ends up getting dragged into it anyways by his friend group.)

28. Even if your OC doesn’t play video games, what do you think their favorite game/series would be?
Gavin would probably say that his favorite games are puzzle solving mystery games, or any visual novel or point-and-click style game with a deep plot and message, since he thinks that sounds like the “intellectual” answer, but in reality he’s barely played any games in those genres, and never to completion. He actually much prefers action games that require quick reflexes and coordination, such as first person shooters, fighting games, or combat-oriented RPGs and is very good at them, but is embarrassed to admit this since those kinds of games don’t “fit his image”. He doesn’t like multiplayer with voice chat though since anytime someone says something mean to him he gets upset enough he has to stop playing and then is afraid to start back up once he’s calmed down since someone might say something mean again.
